You talking under the seat

I've got two clamps under the hood for my snorkel and then there are two under the seat and then there are two more behind the seat in then there are more clamps between the filter housing and the throttle bodies.

I'm excited to get mine on. I'm doing the hole as soon as the pioneer gets done and hopefully I'll play in some water!

Do you think you had water in there at any time? Was that all just condensation?

I don't think so. It didn't look like it anyway

So they think just that splash of water at the very front was what caused that? Surely not.

I have watched lots of videos of UTVs splashing similarly, often multiple times and they also have their air intakes in the front under the "hood". One in particular I am thinking about, he was jumping into it at a much higher speed repeatedly and didn't suffer any ill effects.

Now granted, I don't know if this video was shot at the beginning of his series on the Wolverine or the end of his series but he still went into it several times without hydro locking and looking at his videos he did quite a bit of driving around. I'll post on his Youtube channel and ask if the machine suffered any ill effects from that.

How long did you go before you locked up?
This dude works at the dealer where I bought my 500. He sucked in water his 500 engine about a month ago. He drives his 500 like it was free

A valve stem with (or without) the core removed, and then capped. You would really need access from inside the pipe so that might be difficult? Only reason to keep the core in is just in case the cap came loose somehow.

Waylan
How about a flush mount valve stem? It would be low profile and could be drained by installing the valve stem tube

Look under the seat next to the fuel tank. You can't miss it. There should be two clamps near the bottom of the bend and then two more up the pipe close to the air box

So do y'all think CP's disaster was caused by loose clamps? I hope we get to the bottom of this and you guys can tell us newbies what to do to prevent this crap from happening to ours. I'm afraid to pee within 10 feet of mine now.

That's kinda funny how you worded that :) I never checked clamps to be honest with you but Honda says the were tight and at least I don't really think that's what did it myself. And don't be quite that afraid @Jbird. I'm trying to get to the bottom of this and if it helps prevent another from dying that's a good thing. This board is the best place for ideas and research and hopefully we can figure this out. I've learned more about intakes and placement in the last week then I care to know. What we did with the stock 700 and many other vehicles was massive and still beside myself on this Oneida hard on my machine I useitand can or will fix things I don't like on it because it's worthy but I did assume it would at least take the same as the 700 at least. I think slow crossings are good. I really just say be a little careful try not to splash the nose that's where I feel the problem lies. And I honestly believe it doesn't suck it all in at once I believe in my case it was a series that gathered water but that could be a problem as you do it once and no problem so what's a couple more times with even smaller. A tube drain and snorkel are in my future. I really would suggest the tube drain something that can be done without tools to drain and do a snorkel if you're around water a lot and can't do a slow speed. It is I It's a great machine I wish I still had it and am excited to get it back. Go drive your machine! Not trying to beat up on the pioneer here at all I love mine but I wasn't being harsh on it and do not feel this is my fault. Just keep this in mind before hauling ass through puddles. It's an expensive mistake on this guy. Be cautious.

I just sat here and read all 8 pages of this thread. So sorry to hear of this. I was hoping you'd get off easy. Ive hit bigger puddles faster than that before I was snorkeled. Guess I just got lucky. Wish you were closer to tn buddy. I'd have no problem at all letting you borrow my rig any time you wanted. Especially since i work weekends anyways.
