I agree, it's one thing if the dealer fiddles and screws up but an entirely different if I fiddle and screw up. Just saying they "ported the relief valves" is like the doctor saying something is wrong with you, I'll operate. The devil is in the details.

Absolutely! It could be something super simple and probably is but damn.

Can you give some more details?

Did you mostly run in High Range?

Mudding?

Towing?

Hills and valleys or mostly flat?

High speed or low speed?

I think Honda has a problem and I think the more data they have on when the problem seems to happen the most, the easier time they will have coming up with an appropriate solution.

(Plus it will help other members that have similar issues diagnose or avoid similar issues.)
Id say mostly high range....but low range when we are going up hills and rocks.....hardly any towing whatsoever and I rarely see 20 mph lol

Fingers crossed man!!!
I'd love to see a how-to video... eventually
Talked to Cole today (Honda Tec) he said he used a standard chamfering bit and then polished the seats. I'm a clicker now. He also said all the units he's done this to have the same results, CLICK. He's been doing one a day for a while now. Cole expects an updated valve in the near future. The 2017 1000's are not out yet, Wonder if there holding back to make the up date at the factory?

Is he doing all these under warranty?

Do you know if he started doing this on his own or based on guidance from Honda?

These are the questions that really need answered. @Smitty335 it's great they were able to fix you up, but if Honda didn't approve it I would be apprehensive to have it done.

All under warranty, yes it is a directive from Honda with more to come.

That's good to know. I would guess that dealers will only be doing this when the machine comes in for a clutch problem, though. I doubt Honda will issue a recall.

Do you have the Honda warranty, or is yours a dealer warranty?

I guess we'll have to wait to hear from the next person that has a dealer replace their clutches. Hopefully they will have read this thread so they can ask their dealer about having it done.
