Moved my license plate to where it belongs after you guys convinced me the wiring wouldn’t melt. 👍

Today I ‘finished’ my winch install. Well, no, not finished, but I wired it up to a second battery I had lying around, a Duracell ETX20. It’s sitting sideways in the aux battery tray with all winch wiring connected to it, as well as a battery tender pigtail. This setup is temporary, but it got the winch working.
It’s ugly, wires balled up everywhere. Once I decide what I ultimately want to do for a second battery it will get cleaned up. I’m still leaning toward a large AGM under the seat, because I think I want a heater behind the dash. Pretty sure that heater occupies the aux battery space. I also see an auxiliary fuse panel in my future.
No pictures. Too ugly.

I did the rear door storage mod today. During the process I let the smoke out of my Milwaukee rotary tool (like a Dremel, only red, and we all know red is the fastest color). I discovered that the oscillating multi tool (also red) is a much better tool for cutting the panel sections out.

Makita has most of my tool dollars in the lithium battery powered department. For the cut-outs, I prefer to drill the corners with a hole saw, then connect the dots, at least on the longer runs, with an angle grinder with thin cut-off wheel. Yes, it's gonna leave a melted ABS plastic lip, but that comes off quickly with a deburring tool. I also use a Makita oscillating multi tool for the shorter cuts and plunge cuts - that, fitted with a narrow blade, makes short work of rocker switch cut-outs in the panel as well.

When reducing the "thickness" of the door color panels for the push button catches, the oscillating tool works almost like a wood plane and is very controllable.

Worked on the Trail Armor skidplate today. I opted to install 6mm rivnuts instead of the self tappers. I made a drill bushing that snuggly fit the holes in the skidplate to ensure accurate location.

All of the holes that were supposed to align with the factory threads did except for the rear most passenger side. It was off by almost ¼". I re-cut a new counterbore and moved on. I believe others have had problems with this same hole.

I also had to trim the front of the skidplate just behind the front tires to avoid rubbing until I get A arms.

Great job, @Cely1932.

My TA skid plates and A-Arm covers are in the boxes in the pole barn. Going to install those when it warms up a bit here. Brr.

I sold my T-A A arm guards shortly after installing them, they held way to much debris that would rub the boots, was always cleaning them out trail side and a lot easier to clean those areas after they found a new home.

I've always thought the same about a arm guards. I have the Honda aluminum ones. Guess I'll see how they do

Thanks for the 411. I'll have to keep an eye on things.

So you don't run A-Arm guards at all now?
