This flywheel is definitely getting sent to my buddy Brian while everything is apart so it can get put on a diet to let the new engine rev quicker....

Other than the cylinders, pistons and rings I'm not seeing any other damage inside the engine. I'm very happy about that!!!

Engine block has been shipped to the machine shop and will arrive Monday. Hopefully they can get right to it and get it back to me quickly but if not I may have a plan B that involves "borrowing" a block thats already sleeved and ready to go in exchange for mine when it's done.

Pulled the oil pump housing apart the other night to clean and inspect it and found enough wear in the housing to make me want to order a whole new assembly with the rest of the parts I need...

Time for another engine update...... Block is at the machine shop getting sleeved, the pistons we ordered are scheduled to arrive at the machine shop on Monday and the engine guy and I decided to try out the new Kraft Werks stage 2 cam instead of reusing my BC stage 4 cam so that's on order too and should net me a few more HP vs the old one. If all goes well I expect it to start going back together in about 2 weeks.

I've been slacking on getting it pulled off the crank to give to my buddy but ya, that's still in the works. Been spending most of my free time scrubbing the rest of the engine and trans parts to get them squeaky clean for reassembly.

The only time shifting that quick is a problem is when we do land rush starts like MX and most series have gotten away from that for obvious reasons. When it does happen I put it in auto/sport mode and once I get rolling and through the first corner I go back to manual mode. My trans is programmed to shift slightly below redline in sport mode so it keeps the engine in its sweet spot.

The Kraft Werks cam is a super nice piece. It's a billet cam core and not cast like the stock or BC cam cores so that's pretty fancy! It also looks like it's ground on a smaller base circle than the BC cam to gain the extra lift height without modifying rocker geometry.....

So..... I took the car to a local MX track this morning to run some easy practice laps to see if I can drive with 1.5 hands and I killed it. 😟

Apparently the air filter collapsed and got sucked down into the velocity stack. Once that happened it sucked the filter oil out in those two spots and started inhaling dust. I didn't notice a problem until it was honed at least .030 or .040 over so now I get to pull the motor, disassemble it and get the block sleeved on top of having to rebuild it.

W.T.F I should have just stayed in bed this morning.....
any thoughts to cobble up an Africa twin air filter housing or similar or just make a wire cage up ?

I also ordered a pair of 2019 Honda Africa Twin throttle body boots to experiment with. If it moves the TB up and vertical enough it should give me enough room to put an air box around the intake along with a real air filter. 😁

Have you tried these yet? Do they fit the throttle body plate?
