Ya im sure the pavement is a blast but feel like rally can kinda translate a little bit to our pioneer's.

Dirt or pavement it all improves the driver. Nothing like pull 1.5 G's in 90 degree turn at 60 mph.

Where is everybody? I've been hanging out in the shop drinking whiskey and turning wrenches and I've got nobody to talk to on here.

Well I'm glad I'm not alone. I've been sitting here having a conversation with Traveller and the Farm Rig.

You should hear the s*** that Traveller is telling the farm rig..... poor Farm Rig, he don't get out much. I still don't have any trail pics or videos from Farm Rig. He hasn't left the property since he's become part of the family.

I guess I should bring the Foreman up here and let it converse for a little while too. That's got to be one sad rig. It's probably only gotten 50 miles since I bought my first pioneer in early 2015.

Sooooo... I'm wiring my s*** for the dual battery the other night and I dropped a screw driver down the intake... after trying to fish it out for 15 minutes I took out the floorboard.. oh well, I've got to run wires back anyway. So as I'm pulling s*** apart I find that one of the lower intake hose clamps isn't as tight as I'd like. The one upfront was plain loose but I checked it at the time I got the machine. So I pull it all apart and find my screwdriver is wet!! WTF!!!? Pretty sure it's from pressure washing with the snorkel uncovered... BUT it could be in part to the loose hose clamp. There's not a ton but enough to make my ass pucker. Which brings me to my point.. these snorkels need a frogzskin screen. I bought some from Hondasxs and will be putting something together this week!

I'm sure that's from pressure washing. I always cover mine when washing it. I have driven in a lot of rain and a lot of water(enough to earn the name "duck" from CP) and have never found water in mine. I've run a inspection camera down the tube and it's always dry after making deep water crossings and driving in the rain.

Now, the loose clamps can definitely be a big problem.

Yeah.. I figure it's splash back from the windshield as I did a suction test before I ever drove it. BUT I just don't like the idea of that openess. I've questioned how the spectra prefilter will actually impact it if driving in rain. Will the rain hit the filter and seep through collecting in the intake? I dunno.. that's why I've been running the snorkel riser.. plus I get a semi from the growl!

And yes.. that lower intake hose joint could EASILY be under water in just a couple foot deep hole or a crossing.. that could potentially suck a lot of water quickly. I'm not big on deep water running but a couple foot is inevitable if you ride much at all.

I usually scope mine after riding as it's part of my routine. I always check all fluids, air filter, and intake track, and grease all moving parts after mudding or deep water.

So far it's been dry. I don't do the extreme deep water like some but I will do seat deep with out a thought.

Any more than this and I'm past my comfort zone....

It feels damn good! I was a little let down by my base line runs. The acceleration test showed that power braking it gained about a 1/2 second faster. With out power braking, it was launch okay but die for about half a second and then take off. Kind of like turbo lag in a car or truck. Now it launches hard and spins the tires with out the lag. That's where the better time comes from. It doesn't pull that much harder all the way to 40mph, it just gets out of the hole a lot quicker. I love that increase in the low end. It should help a lot with the bigger tires.

That one is going to be much harder to test. I could do an acceleration test in manual mode and accelerate from 3000 to 6000 and time it. It's too late for that test now because I don't want to unhook everything to get another baseline. ☹️
