Added a simple suicide knob to my P1k5 today.

10 bucks at local farm ranch store.
Now I can steer and run my winch easier with my left hand, while shifting / turning blade with my right.

bolts in the pkg are just long enough to engage the nuts when fully tightened down.

I've also heard them called Thumb Breakers from the good ol' days of manual steering.
Do agree they have their uses. 👍

It's called a suicide knob. Anyone that grew on a farmall m, h, b, c, or a, with a narrow front should know that. Best addition that that you can do to a pioneer
Those are illegal in most states for use on regular passenger cars & trucks (something about improper road feedback) unless you are handicapped, but legal on commercial vehicles in many places.

No idea if they would be an issue off road (public land, trails, etc.). Most likely NOT an issue off road, but might be worth asking.

@Soaz1000 - Why did you mount that high? I would think that it would be better off lower as to not raise your center of gravity.

That was a last minute let's throw it on type of deal. After not being very active for so long I was getting kinda sore. I broke a bolt while mounting it so it all has to come apart tomorrow. If everything will clear I'll slide it lower.

Still a great upgrade. You've gotta try it. And I highly doubt that if you get pulled over in your Pioneer, that the suicide knob is what the cops will be worried about.

Copied from the web: "Legality. Brodie knobs are legal on private vehicles in most U.S. states. U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration regulations restrict use of auxiliary devices for specific construction vehicles. OSHA prohibits modification of industrial equipment without the approval of the equipment manufacturer."

They are completely legal in NV . . . but then, most everything that's fun and banned in other states is legal in NV, (with certain notable exceptions if you're married and care about your sorry butt).

There's conflicting info posted on-line as to what position is best to mount the knob for us right-handed knuckle draggers. What all works best for you?
