Been checking into spray foaming my shop, Holly crap it's expensive.
Not sure how spray foam performs over the long run so I used foam board with a radiant barrier from Lowes. The radiant barrier keeps the condensation way down almost none at all. And it was cheaper and easy to put up in a small shop.

Well my shop has been built 35 years. It’s 44 x 28 with rough cut 2x6 ceiling rafters. It has 4 inch spray in foam in the ceiling which brought the summer time temp down from 146* to 110* in the summer. It has used chicken house tin on the outside and a cement slab floor. It has a 9000 lb lift on one end. My step father and I built it for 8700.00 and that included 3 new 10 x 12 roll up doors, roll in insulation in the walls and foam board insulation in the doors. I am about 30 miles from it now but I will try and find some pics of it. I ran a diesel p/u business out of it for 15 years.

This is the north end of the shop showing the lift and the wife’s Duster I redid in 2013. The slab under the lift was 6 inches thick and the rest was 4 inches. It has a small bathroom and 2 windows each on the North and South ends.

The second pic is the south side and partial front and the last pic is looking toward the west in the middle bay. That is a ‘33 Plymouth Coupe I was building when I had my stroke. Still sitting there 9 years later. 😢

My shop was here when We bought 21 yrs ago. 28x36 insulated and heated. Toilet, sink, fridge,tv and a small couch. It gets quite cluttered as the kids and myself are always doing something. Gets a clean up about twice a year just to get all messed up again. If I was to build one it would be higher with a mezzanine for storage but weve turned out many projects over the years and it works very well for us.

Well got one step completed that I needed to move forward on the makeover for my home shop. Built the shelves in our container, this will allow me to move a bunch of the boss's containers out of my shop.
1-1/2" square tubing and a few leftover elevator doors.

I have a 36 by 40 pole barn that I’ve been upgrading over the years (fixing rafters, upgrading power, rain gutters, doors ect)

The biggest project I’ve taken on is to insulate it. I scored 3 trailer loads of used foil faced insulation for a song recently.

I’ve been working my rear off trying to get it installed over the past weeks in between work and the such . Because most of the insulation board is damaged in some way, and the clown that built my pole barn was drunk, I’m having to square nearly every piece, and detail dimension all the inserts.

But it will be worth it in the end imo. It will make it much more bearable in the shop in the extremes. Thankfully my side hustle is covering all the materials etc.

Got a couple things done today, Got the template made and the first set of holes drilled on my DIY layout table. It will be roughly 3' X 4' when completed. More holes to come this weekend, hopefully complete all the holes by end of weekend.

If anyone has not used one of these (mag drill), you should !! I have plans to retrofit one of my old drill press's to except a mag drill. think I could do away with the 2 drill presses I have now.

Thanks Tram for giving me a reason exhibit my place. I’m pretty proud of it and a bit spoiled. I call the shop “my living room”. We built our shouse, barndominuim or whatever you want to call it 10 yrs ago after spending many years renovating an old farm house just to sell. Garage side started out as just bare studs and I’ve finished it over the years. Garage is 72w x 48 deep. I split 32x48 to insulate heat and left 40x48 cold storage. Also built a loft with a couple rooms and a balcony which I am still working on. Full bath and extra laundry as well. Short of kitchen sink, stove and microwave it has everything. I absolutely love it. No walking thru cold or rain to get to shop, warm cars in the morning. Can wash cars or work on whatever all winter. Great place to hang out with friends and family.

I’ll be waiting for standard TripleB response to follow.

Just going through re-reading the comments. @silverado94 , happen to have any photos and or a screen shot of the material you used?

Scored a great deal on some 26ga. R panel this weekend. Going to replace about 40 sheets between the back wall and about 20 sheets on the roof. The corrugated tin i used when I built that section of the barn.( the tin i used was given to me and it was used twice before.)
Ended up getting it for $1.10 a foot! Got about 650 foot of material.

I used this 1/2" poly pro foam board with a Radiant barrier. I got it at Lowes. Can't find it on there website but I did see it a while ago in my local store. Here's a link to a different store.https://sutherlands.com/products/item/3383114/poly-pro-4-foot-x-8-foot-x-12-inch-polypro-foilpoly-closed-cell-eps-insulation-board?origin=serp_auto

I believe my building is made with the same R-panel that you have on your trailer. It says you have to have an air gap with the Radiant facing towards the outside of the building. I glued (liquid nails) little pieces of flat wood to the r-panel and glued the Poly board to that to create the air gap. My ceiling has about a 6" air gap as I put in a wood framework to screw them down to. I also taped the seems (not finished yet) to keep the air in the gap from "touching" the air inside the shop. Which is what keeps it from forming condensation in the shop.
