Hello,
I have a 2016 Honda Pioneer 1000-5 deluxe with a winch on the front. I'm trying to find a toy hauler now to haul it and trying to determine the best garage size for it. I'm wondering if an 11' garage would be too tight of a fit? What toy haulers are you all using?

Also, I just bought a 2017 F-350 6.7 4x4 crew cab SRW thinking I could tow about any size toy hauler. Now, I'm finding out that many of the 5th wheel toy haulers hitch pin weights are going to put my truck over it's payload capacity. Not opposed to selling my new truck and getting a dually, but I'd rather not.

Just trying to see what my options are for a 5th wheel toy hauler that will have a light enough "wet" hitch pin weight to keep me legal on the roads, and also fit my 1000-5. Any ideas?

After 2 toyhaulers one 10' & one 12' garage length. I would definitely recommend at least the 12 or 13 ft garage models. I have had really good experiences with the Heartland Cyclone series. Don't fool yourself with the 2nd bathroom models, 1 you will almost never use it and the most always take away critical garage space. The ones with the residential tub/ shower units 60"x32" are a godsend for getting cleaned up and not banging elbows etc. as on the smaller RV showers.

Of the current floor plans the Cyclone 3413 has a 13'4" garage that will fit a fully accessorized P1K5 and room for the riding gear, tools etc. Pin weight on that model is 3050 lbs most are 3400-3800.

There is approximately 40% markup in RVs, on of the lowest advertised prices I had found was Holman RV in Batavia OH ( Cincinnati outskirts) they used to have great selection of Toyhaulers that were marked 30-32% off MSRP probably not in today's market.

If / when I do it over again for the cost of a super duty and toyhauler you can get a 4x4 Super C motor home based off the Ford F600 chassis rated to tow 12k lbs and an 18 ft enclosed trailer.

I’m currently running a heartland fuel 287 travel trailer, it is an open floor plan type P1K5 fits snug but fits. I’ve hauled it all over hell and half of Georgia with no issues. Tow rig is a 19 F350 dually 6.7PS . tongue weight when fully loaded is 1500#s total weight of trailer when loaded is 13K. Truck weighs 10.5 K that means I’m a total of around 25K overall. Like @Remington said, don’t be a dumb ass and you’ll be fine, knowing what your towing is key here.

Here’s my TH with a ‘16 F350 much like @Remington has.
It’s a Wolfpack 325pack13. It’s a 40’ TH with a 12’ garage. Plenty of room for my P1k5 with a bed extension.

The ‘16 was right at the limits fully loaded with water ( only carry a few gallons) I use an Anderson hitch, which really helps save on pin weight.

2 years ago I traded the 16 F350 srw on a 19 Ram Dually as I was planning on roading the camper a lot more on big trips, work remotely etc.

No doubt dually is better, loved it when towing the TH, hated it all the time not towing. Sold it out right for 10k more than I paid for it and placed an order on a ‘22 F350 Srw diesel with high payload two months ago.

Last year I only made 1 big run with the TH and the 5 other trips were 6 hr or less drives.

it’s not the weight or length, it’s the tall profile of the TH and crosswinds that will make a SRW challenged.

See, I would think that your "wet" hitch pin weight would be over your payload limit with your passengers and all cargo loaded down. Which isn't a big deal, unless something bad happens. Most often, I would probably be under the numbers even with SxS, but don't want to do a bunch of math and be nervous if I'm loaded down on a boondocking trip. Have you done the CAT scales with yours all loaded down to see if your over the GCWR of your truck??
You won’t be doing much boondocking in a 5ver TH unless it’s on flat ground.

I was in the Beartooths this summer, and it was crazy hard to get to this spot 100yds off the road.

Typically your water tank is behind the axel, not over the pin. In the grand scheme, it’s not really that noticeable any way. I carry small amount of water, and fill up fully near the location.

I had a 235 hp outboard on an 18' boat rated for 175 hp and never died, because I was a responsible adult. I live and boated at 5000 ft which downrated that 235 to 184 hp IIRC. Load ratings have a built-in fudge factor allowing for idjits. Like Remmington said, it ain't rocket science, drive safely, carefully, leave yourself extra room to stop and don't fill the garage with lead bars.

Will do! I've come to the conclusion that "most" are probably very near or over their payload capacity in a SRW. However, if the water, fuel, and cargo are all at or behind the axle, it should reduce hitch pin weight. Think I'm just gonna try to find a TH with a hitch weight that doesn't put me over my payload right out of the gate! I'll keep you all posted. Love all the comments, recommendations and pics!

Lakota and sundowner build nice enclosed trailers with living quarters also. They're all aluminum. I've looked into them. As soon as this money tree sprouts ill be buying one.

Outdoors rv 27 trx great trailer about 4500lb payload pioneer 1000 snug fit mainly the width because of sliding glass doors for deck area and I also have wheel spacers but it fits and hauls it fine

I have a Lithium 2414 toy hauler and like it a lot for my p5 but, you may need to look at a Lithium 2714 for the right size. Well made and love the king bed.

I'm pulling a 42ft KZ Inferno toy hauler with a SRW 2013 F250 6.7. Drives good. Dry weight is almost 15k. I've been up some monster grades with lesser trucks and same KZ. I had airbags on my 06 and my 10 and don't need them much on the 13. I just make sure to run a good tire all the time and so far never a problem.
