P1000 Power steering issue

I’m having power steering issues and not sure where to start the light is only on when the key is on but turns off when I start it up and then it will work fine for awhile then the steering will get stiff intermittently with no power steering light coming on any suggestions?

When this happens do any other lights illuminate?
Does the gear position flash?
