P1000 Side step pipe rust issue

You're welcome.
Go with any schedule readily available. Sch 40 I think is available at the box stores.
Find a metal supermarket or something similar, ask them if they have any drops. Might find it for almost nothing.

I picked up 2 10' pcs from HD. It's the same pipe I used to sleeve my cage when I chopped the top. I had to mill it down a bit to slide in the OEM pipe but maybe due to all the dents mine had already. I cleaned and pre-lubed the OEM as much as possible NoMo and it was still a real tight fit -SHE- 😂 the BFH took care of it though

Grind a nice bevel on the pipe, it will help form the dents. But big ol sledge will send it home.

I took a grinder and beveled the front end of the pipe and literally had to beat the sleeves inside. I slid both sides in as far forward as possible and it straightened the OEM pipe back into shape. They've since took some hard hits and no damage at all aside from the cheap powder coat flaking.

I had a lot of the plastics off already from other work so I strapped/chained down the structure from front to back. From the front and the cross supports back to the frame rails, worked pretty well because at one point I was using a 20# persuasion tool 😬😂

Since your sleeving it you can always try drilling a hole and using a dent puller before pounding it home.

These are the originals they don’t look that bad but that’s because of paint is hiding it. It rusted from the inside out.

Follow-update. Got them repaired by local welder. Turns out that stock car roll bar tubing is awful close to the same size. Put it all back together day before yesterday. All good for a while now- I just have to stay away from protruding stumps .
