I've got a 2016 P1000 Deluxe and it has no Power steering and the PS light is on . It has been going in and out for about a year and previously i've been able to get it to reset by disconnecting the battery or tightnen up the connectors and it work for a while then revert back. I've changed the battery with a new battery and that didn't help. I brought the buggy to a repair shop on 9-11 and they just called today and said they can't fix it. The shop first said it was the powersteering ECU so they replaced it and nothing so next they replaced the power steering motor and still nothing. The mechanic says they checked all the grounds and all the wires and can't find anything and give up on it. Has anyone had a similar issue or know something else we could check? Also could I get the power steering from Superatv and install it and have powersteering and just deal with the light on the dash? Any help would be appreciated because I really need my power steering it has me spoiled.

Have you tried checking all the grounds yourself? And connectors while you're at it, I wouldn't trust the dealership too much if they were that quick to give up on it.

I'll vote for going thru all the grounds  yourself as well. Don't just try to wiggle them and move on. Take them apart, clean them and snug them up.

You've got a new ECU and a new ps motor - they're about out of parts to throw at it.

@P1K5Dave, I am with him. Will need to check grounds. Then ensure no broken wires and connections are good. If those main component's are good then ground or wire issue more than likely.

Electrical problems hard to find easy to fix.

A quick test that some guys have had success with would be to install a test ground directly from your battery (-) to the frame.

It does not replace all of the aforementioned work going thru grounds, but it's worth a shot.

I had similar issues and finally went with the Super ATV per steering kit they offer for Honda Pioneers... Not a single hiccup since...

My thread is here under Super ATV Power Steering... Date 8-2-2023 ;)

Took them all off, used my Dremel to ensure all contact and terminal are clean. Hooked back up and still his lights on. Was looking for anyone who has knowledge on voltage and signal of schematics? I found a good color over lay of schematic. Going to start to check voltage and wires for breaks. Any other ideas?

nope - point to point wiring check would be my next move

to confirm - the PS still doesn’t work at all plus the trouble lite is on ?

Working on point to point.

No power steering and trouble light is on. I am getting voltage from fuse/battery. I am also getting 12 volts on ignition wire signal. Going to pull pig tall on motor tomorrow and check voltage also. Did a check on pig tail to ground. Thad a good continuity check.

Ok Team,

With bike running and 12 volts hardwired to motor it turns left automatically. Also light still flashes when 12 volts hardwired. The torque sensors should read where the wheel is and tell send signal back and forth. It has a ground and VS1 and VS2. I’ll check those wires today. They run back to eps control unit.

Am I not thinking about this correctly?

If I am thinking about this correctly - the EPS control box is just an amplifier - the torque sensor doesn’t care where the wheel is - it is measuring torque/force applied to the steering wheel and increasing/decreasing power to the electric power steering motor -

did they ever give you back all the old parts that were good?

possibly next step is to disconnect linkage from ps motor output and see what u got there unless u think this is purely electrical

id also check part numbers on the new stuff - who knows what shops do and send it out the door not fixed with new parts

They said they put it all back. With it plugged in to factory harness it just doesn’t work. The light stays on for eps. When I hard wire steering motor it turns on it’s on to left and light stays on.
