This is precisely what I'll be fabricating to slip into the receiver hitch that will be on the back of the Osprey tear drop trailer.

Aluminum, guess it will be bolted, I can't weld aluminum.
If you care about the appearance you could use rivets instead of bolts, that would give it a cleaner look.

And I might make the main 2x2 bar that goes in the hitch steel, then an aluminum basket on top, I don't know.

The 2x2 of course would be steel for strength and yes I will be concerned about appearances. Not sure rivets would be strong enough though. Very small carriage bolts wouldn't be unattractive though.

The best deal would be if my buddy Tflynn went over to Auburn mid March when the trailer rolls out, picked it up and took it to his shop and fabed me one welded.

Whenever I hear the word avant I think of one of my favorite cars the Amanti. Similar phonetics I suppose

Those were a cool car

That will work nice Monte, that's 10 gal of fuel it looks to be. You could put your spare right in the middle
Yeah, I was thinking that a possibility although that box is 48" and the cabin width on the trailer is 42", so probably not enough room.

Roof is on. Next thing is to start framing in the walls and figuring out the door. As it turns out I have a stash of old conversion van windows at my dad's shop back in Illinois. So as soon as I figure out how to get them back up here I'll have more windows than I know what to do with.

Will your camper also be able to carry some of the cargo for the trip? Or will all the cargo be on the Pioneer.
