Err on the side of caution? State that you felt it has better visibility attached to the rear roll bars while towing. I think you would have to find on pissed off member of law enforcement to harass you about such a small detail.

I'm going to check with SDDOT. If it's legal to place it there, I will. If it's not, I won't. You're right that I'm covering my ass, but I really don't want hassles and delays on such a timed trip as this. We all know people that are, strictly by the book, types. They exist in LE as well. It doesn't require a pissed off LE to tell me my license plate isn't within the DOT approved location, just a thorough one. I do appreciate your idea, and will be checking with SDDOT to see if the cage is an acceptable location. Thanks again.

Received an email from Roberts county stating that if we're carrying legal firearms that aren't loaded there's no problem, and that we're permitted on roads with speed limits below 65. I'll print it and it will be in my file with me.

Not sure what a brink is, but in the same response that I received, they did say that this rule doesn't apply to those with CHL.

Yes.... If you've seen any of my videos with Dimitri here at Mary's Ridge you would understand.. @Manwell can attest to the fact that it's a crapshoot at best
