I just ordered my rims for my PK1 -3 not lifting or changing suspension. Want to get the light truck tires shown above. I ordered the rims mentioned in the above post. Besides spacers for back wheels and new lug nuts. what size tires do i need and anything else to keep bike stock settings?
I'm guessing you ordered the 15x7 rims? If so you can run the 235/75r15 tires. That tire translates to a 29x9 on a truck or aired down for our buggies about 28x9 depending on air pressure. This is the most widely available 15 inch tire size. It's also the largest you can run without a lift. You should be able to find several options in mud terrain or all terrain. There is also the 215/75r15. It's about 27x8 on a truck or 26x8 on our buggies. You will likely only find that size in all terrain.
Honestly, I'm very pleased with my 235/75r15s. That size is more available and cheaper than the 215/75r15. Based on pictures posted on this forum, the 235/75r15 is probably what 95% of the guys running truck tires are using. I also wouldn't worry much about the brand of the tire. I would shop by price and looks (tread pattern and sidewall) in that order. Our buggies weigh a quarter of the weight these tires are made to carry, so they will perform beyond what we require. I almost ordered the discontinued, previous generation BFG Mud Terrains, but I just didn't think it was worth it. Same with the Maxxis DOT radials available. I was also trying to keep the total cost of wheels, tires, lugs, spacers, etc to $500ish.
I would stick with a mud terrain unless, like the other guy in this thread, you plan to run two sets of the wheels and tires. Like, get a set of pure ATV mud tires and set of all terrain truck tires for summer or something. The mud terrain is like an all terrain for our buggies.
I'm running 9psi in the front and 11psi in the rear.
Tires I considered: Federal Couragia MT, Forceum M/T 08 (consistently the cheapest, but with good reviews), Accura something, and some others I can't recall (look back to my posts at the beginning of this thread). I ended up getting the Centennial Dirt Commander MT. Based my decision on price, look of the tread and sidewall, and reviews I read about that tire. I think it ended up being $85 a tire from SimpleTire after a coupon for first time buyers.
Check eBay (has just about every random brand of tires available), Amazon, SimpleTire, or just Google 235 75 r15. You should find a few other online tire stores. Just check reviews, shipping arrangements (some only want to ship to specific installers), and other details.
