Last year we couldn’t hear one group to the other.. it seems that the range of our handhelds were limited to one side of a mountain.

I don't know that you want to really hear one group to another... it has potential to get confusing. Now having the leaders reach out incase of something yea - but you always have option of sending someone to the top of nearest hill to try transmission. I may, may bring a base station and much better antenna . may

I’ll tell you what, you won’t find much better customer service anywhere. I’m sure I have annoyed the crap out of him with my questions and he has patiently answered all of them. Even before I bought it. Just glad I don’t have to program it myself. After messing with the baofeng for a while. I’m happy to have one of his haha.

figured out my chinese radio today. Programmed it the same as whats on the first post here, which seems to match up with walmart radios as well. Glad to have a second radio to lend to those who dont have one. Got to try it out today with @Mudd_Man and his setup from @BetnerComms. gonna be ready to go.

Depends on where you want to mount your antenna. Both of you have different set ups.

The antenna above is a nmo connector so you have options on how to mount it

When you calibrated the antenna on Nbomars rig, how much did you have to trim the whip if any? May need to tune my antenna at Mulberry if I don' buy a SWR meter before hand.

His was good when I put a meter to it - however the Allen screw has been loosened and we will need to redo.
You should not need to trim , there should be an Allen screw toward the base of the antenna that you can loosen and adjust the length of the antenna.
I am already planning on bringing my SWR meter to the ride in March so if you do not need before We can test there.
