I am picking up my Honda sub harness Tuesday,
but I have everything else I need to install the
secondary battery & the winch, aux panel.

Here are my questions so far.

1) I assume the red wires for the rocker switch
and the socket assy, that says is keyed, is to provide
the switching power for winch solenoid. Since I am
powering directly from the secondary battery, do
I connect this wire to the hot of the secondary
battery?

2) If I use an on-off-on momentary switch on my
new panel, to take the place of the rocker switch
supplied with the winch, then do I need to send
that control through a relay or a fused circuit
on my fuse/relay panel, or just send those
from the new panel switch directly to the
solenoid?

3) Since the aux panel only has 5 paired colored
wires, R, B, G, W, Y, can we only use 5 relays?

4) Since we only have 5 fused wires, which of
the fused circuits do we use? 1 through 5?

5) Where do I plug in my sub harness to pick
up switched power?

6) If my battery is within 24" of the aux panel,
do I need to use the fusible link?

Sorry to be so dense.

Edited after first posting because I figured
out some of my questions.

John
Never apologize for asking questions. I learn from your questions also.

John - I can answer a couple of those questions:

I'm not an expert and don't even have my machine yet so this is just guidance (not instructions)... I plan to test these circuits later with a voltmeter.

The solenoid is being used as a relay - it allows you to control a high power device with a low power switch - so you should be able to replace the switch supplied with the winch with your own switch. These lower power switch activate the solenoid (a high power switch).

I believe the 5 fused wires are always hot when power is applied to the aux panel - so these would feed these into your switches that are used to power your non-relayed accessories. For example one of those wires would go to a switch label "Work Light" and the output from that switch will power a 50 watt light.

Hope that helps.
Ron

Which wire is everyone tapping into for the battery isolator to cut on/off when it's started? Just find one that's hot when the key is turned on and splice into it?
Any thoughts or consensus on this question, as I also am at this point.

How about the Honda Sub Harness, it plugs right in to factory harness and gives you switched power. Pt# 08Z02-HL3-A00
Is the factory harness part of that $300 switch plate system, or is there a plug somewhere for the sub harness to plug to?

It's simply just used to provide switched power. It is required for the Honda horn or back up alarm. But you can buy just the harness and use it as you like. Replaces the short harness going to the power plug and gives you a switched plug in which allows you just plug in you power wire and not have to alter the factory harness. Plugs in to factory harness so you don't have to use the scotch lock or splice any factory wires. Less than $10 bucks!

OK, this sounds logical to use. Can you tell me where exactly it plugs into the factory harness?

I'm thinking about getting this harness to finish out my wiring. I need keyed power but I don't want to splice into the factory harness. When I type in this part number, it comes back as a part for the 2014 700. My question is …will this harness fit the 1000? If so where exactly does it plug in? Thanks.

No BR my Camo is suppose to be ready to pick up tomorrow and my dealer said this harness is what I needed to wire up my accessories.

That sounds good! If you could, post a few pics so we can see where the harness connects. Looks like there are few people interested.

I ended up going with true-utv dual battery kit and odyssey 925l. Mounted warn vantage 4000s and just tapped into accessory fuse for keyed power...I'm sure this is not the best way to connect but works for now.

I picked up my sub harness today but it's
part number is Pt# 08Z02-HL5-A00 which
is the P/N suggested in this thread earlier.

I also picked up a Service Manual, so I am
looking through it to see if mentions where
to plug the sub harness in. This manual makes
no mention of accessory kit installs, that I
have found, as of yet.

Apparently I ordered the wrong harness, from
I have been able to determine, so far, but I
haven't anything close to telling me where
either of the harnesses plug into.

Hmm, Thats just one number off from the other sub harness. I'm wondering what the difference is. Let us know when you figure it out.

I googled the HL3, but apparently google
just got me close, and I didn't catch the
error over to HL5. Not a big deal. I have
plenty of work to mount the solenoids,
etc, before I turn on the power.

My last thought was to use power from
the accessory port to power the battery
solenoid, but if I can get a sub harness
to work, I'm good with that, too, but
no one has clarified where it plugs in.

Well, with that info I guess I'll wait to order one until I know for sure where it connects. It would be nice to use the harness instead of splicing into the factory wiring.

When I pick mine up tomorrow, I'll ask the guys behind the counter. Worse case scenario, I'm out less than ten bucks.

I'm still thinking that the sub harness connects to inside the panel that comes with the factory switch panel. I had one on my 700, didn't really utilize it because after buying it, I soon discovered that only Honda accessories connected it by way of a special designed plug.

Is there any reason why I can't
use 6 gage wire between my
secondary battery, the control
solenoid, and the factory battery?

Also, it occurred to me that I could
use a hot lead from my secondary
battery to operate the solenoid,
with a switch to interrupt it on
the dash. Is there any reason why
I can't do that? That way I eliminate
any incursion into the factory wiring.
