Cummins Built Not Bought/The Life of Frankie.

17.4 mpg is awesome! I always heard that Cummins got better mpg than others, but it has not proven true on my '17 3500. Even empty I can not get 17 unless I was driving 60mph on interstate. Normal empty at 72, get about 15-15.5. Pulling single axle trailer with P1K, get about 12, pulling GN with skidsteer, drops to 7.5-8 unless I stay below 55mph.

Well you do have a bit more power then I and emissions as well so that sacrifices some.
We didn’t do quite as well this trip but wife just reminded me we fired up the truck to charge camper for about 20 min at idle.
I suspect it’d be around 21 on highway empty, haven’t tested that yet so can’t say. Our 2wd srw got 25 highway with Pioneer loaded in the back, super happy with that but this big b**** won’t touch that. I do tend to drive off boost gauge though, whatever gear holds speed and the lowest boost number I run in.

Ya when we drove the ‘17 CTD to the Takeover I can’t say it lacked power lol. Had cruise set at over 100 in Montana with a trailer. Probably wouldn’t do that again but we were in a hurry.

Not all that big of a deal to me because it’s not like I have friends there like on this site. But did have a couple guys basically telling me it wasn’t worth doing and a few commenting that what I thinking wouldn’t work and buy something else. It did.
Weren’t exactly friendly when I came on the site so just wanted to post a pic saying it wasn’t just some dude with a pipe dream and that it got done.
Most sites aren’t like this one that’s all I’ll say about that.

Haven’t updated in awhile. Well the truck has been flawless. Not positive on how many trips up into the woods but around 10. We’ve only went to our close go to spot once, it’s been all much further trips. Getting away has never been easier.
last trip with camper loaded only turned out as 19.2 mpg.

Daughter getting some experience. She loves manual anyways but commented on how much nicer and easier this truck is to drive then our 2x4. She’s not afraid to drive it. Something some adults may struggle with so that makes me proud.

Makes a new adventure easy so I pulled the trigger, I’m a sucker for a good deal. Going to be spending time in that beautiful lake we’ve been riding around all these years. Boy the truck doesn’t know anything is behind it
