Back story....our family plan was always to buy a Talon and toyhauler. Well when Covid hit, Talons became hard to come by (at least where I was at). My local dealer had hit me up once or twice on some units that would come through but they were either not live valve or a color package I didn't like. One morning I ordered the toyhauler and hit the bed (on night shift that week), wife wakes me up a few hours later and says she put a non refundable deposit on a talon down in Denver and we need to go see it. She has no information on it besides that it's live valve and black, I'm kinda pissed being on 3 hrs of sleep, but we go anyways. Ends up being a special edition with only 170 miles. The thing was babied, exhaust hadn't even been heat cycled enough to change colors yet and it was at a reputable Honda dealership with them just doing the breaking service. Price was also far below anything I had seen in the past year, so we pulled the trigger. Came back the next day with a trailer and brought her home.

Right away I needed to add a fifth seat for my little guy. UTVMA seat and pro armor harnesses for all seats were ordered. Had to drill out the holes on the proarmor harness to fit the factory seatbelt bolts. No big deal just an extra step. About a mm to small in diameter.

Chupacabra offroad 11" center mirror and side mirrors. Quality of these mirrors is excellent and being a machinist/fabricator in my past work I really like the machining marks on the mirror housings

Tusk tailgate and AJK milwaukee packout mount. Ended up going with the smaller AJK plate because I needed the room on the sides for backpack/ drybags/fishing gear etc. I should of just bought the full size one either way since it'd give me more flexibility on positioning but oh well.

Other small s*** like hillbilly brake and some interior stuff was also added.

On our first trip out I realized that there is a logistical issue with the toyhauler talon setup.... being in a communist state like colorado and them not allowing SXS on streets i had no way of getting the talon to trails that were not directly near camp. Only option was to either pack the toyhauler up and use it as transport or just risk a ticket driving it on the road. I'm not packing up camp so i just carefully picked my route and hit the streets, but I quickly realized I needed a trailhead trailer.

Did some research and there were a few options on the market but after looking at the price and factoring in shipping I decided I could build one for a fraction of the cost, plus this gave me an excuse to dust off the plasma and welder and do some fab work.

Needed to be fairly light and strong but also be able to break down and be stored for transport in the truck/toyhauler. I also desided that i need to build this up to DOT and state standards so i could get plates, this way i could use this as my day trip trailer also. Drew up some rough plans and ordered materials

4.1 lb steel c channel
3500# weld yourself spindles and hubs
2.5x2.5 .250 square tube
Axle tube and some 6x3 steel
Wheels and tires

The idea was to have the front cradle, that rides on the tounge, be able to slide forward and back as the Talon is loaded on and off the trailer. A piece of 1/2" thick UHMWPE would be attached to the cradle housing and would ride on the tounge, eliminating any metal to metal contact. Tounge would be pinned to the main frame structure with two 5/8" pins. This would allow the trailer to be separated into 3 pieces ( tounge, front cradle, rear trailer frame) for transport to camp in the truck or toyhauler.

Sprayed with 3 coats of steel it black

As of right now I'd say I have about 700 miles on this trailer. Including about 400 miles at 75mph+ on the interstate. Been using it alot as a day trip trailer since we didn't have many available weekend to camp last summer. Either way it tracks perfectly straight and pulls awesome. Couldn't be happier with how it turned out.

Passed state inspection last month so now just need to go get a vin stamped on the frame and plates.

Just buttoned up some 14" STI A1s on 32" rock-a-billys. What a huge difference in the look aloneView attachment 365378View attachment 365379View attachment 365380
Great pictures - I also have the SE package (2021). I have been looking at trail tires lately and I like the look of the 32's but keep waffling between 30's, 31's, and 32's, trying to get the optimum size. I bought 30" paddles and wheels since I do mainly sand, but looking to do more trails and maybe some roads. It's addictive and I like to tinker with it. I keep trying to tell myself I am done, but theres always more you can do to it... lol

Looks awesome man. With a turbo I wouldn't hesitate at all to go with 32s for trail tires. I've only had a few occasions where I can see the negative effects of the increased rotational mass of 32s when trail riding, mostly in off camber situations where I have a tire that needs to bump up a ledge. Gearing or more power would prob help in my case.

Little bit of action over the winter. Some neighborhood snow bashing and an ice fishing tournament that the Talon was absolutely key in for hauling gear across the lake and running fish back to weigh in, 1.5 miles one way. 4lbs of air in the tires and it floated on top of about 10 inch of semi hard pack snow over the ice at 40 mph.

Added some much needed storage with PRP truss bags and a center dual compartment molle bag (big enough for a compact pistol, multiple phones, keys, etc) off amazon with a tear away IFAK.

Finally got the cluster relocation done. Big shout out to sspeederr for printing me a custom LV housing. Blocked off the old opening with a plate from crossroads3d and backed that up with some steel plate so i could mount the ram ball and samsung tablet. Super happy with this upgrade
