Two questions:
1. Where are you guys tapping into power for your winches?
2. Is wire gauge a factor?

1 - Power and Ground should be direct to the battery, it should NOT be ran through a busbar or anything of such.
2 - 6 gauge is common for most UTV brands 6000lb or less.
3 - I think you are asking for the small wire trigger source. This should be acquired from the ACC circuit. Recommend using the below item to acquire this connection without needing to splice. 18 Guage is fine for this.
