I purchased a 500 that came with a 54" Provantage plow system. It is very nice but unfortunately, too narrow. I think the ideal width would be 60" for the 500. Has anyone tried widening a plow with 12 ga material? It seems inefficient economically to buy a new 60" for $300 and likely have a hard time finding a buyer for the 54".

54 should be useful for atv owners.

In all seriousness though. Here is a site with lots of good ideas. They have a whole home owners atv section.

My last plow I made the wings myself. 11” on each side cuts plowing time in 1/2 or better. Look at how “pro wings” mount for ideas. Just be sure to make them removable by pins or bolts. If you get a really heavy or wet snow you may have to take one or both off for the first few passes.

I set them at about a 30* angle, that way when you have the blade angled (wind rowing) they are at 90* to reduce spilling over. I have about 1/4” gaps in mine and snow doesn’t really sneak through that. It doesn’t have to be a perfect matchup.
