I have a North Star electric pressure washer. 2000 psi. This is what I use to clean up my Pioneer. It’s a well made unit, but just seems a little weak. What washers are you all using?

I use a Simpson 4000 PSI washer uses 3.5 gpm with a 3/4 hose, has the Cat triplex pump and 270cc Honda engine, I pretty much let the engine idle and it will blast off everything including factory decals if you aren't careful, but it blast through everything. $899 at Lowes

So maybe even a 3000psi unit would probably be enough?

Here’s my Kranzle. It “was” an 1120T that I Frankensteined into a wall mounted unit. Welded up a little platform and hanger for the reel. It’s always ready, doesn’t need gas and starts every time. It runs 1600psi but at 2.1gpm so it will wash up the Pioneer pretty good without doing damage. I use it for all kinds of stuff. Including but not limited to car washes, P1k washes, and washing down my sons’ high chair.

I used to maintain 13 car washes with 2 Meyers 3 cylinder pumps for the auto's and 8 Cat pumps, per wash for the wand wash bays, Cat makes a great pump, Car washes put a lot of hours on pumps.

For me, this is a case that bigger isn't better.
I wouldn't spend extra for something I don't need and others will abuse.

If I remember right, something over 3200 psi will begin to chip concrete with the narrow angled, nozzle.
You can research that but it should give some context to what your needs are and what you are using it on.

If you clean a lot of concrete and use a 12" rotating head, then I would consider spending the extra for something over 3300 psi.
Otherwise, most any pressure washer will work.

I would find one with a cut off switch in the gas line or add one if it is something you don't use but occasionally just to help keep the carb from gunking up.

The family business since 1990 was commercial pressure washer and steam cleaner sales and service. I was service tech until my dad's passed away and then took over while also working as full time firefighter. I will always recommend gallons over pressure unless your trying to remove dried concrete or other blasting jobs. Water weighs 8 lbs per gallon and the weight helps knock dirt loose and flush it away. I was really disappointed when mainstream started pushing pressure. Northern tool used to sell great little Honda engine/ Cat pump 3gpm@2,000 psi machines. Perfect for dirt bikes, atvs and sxs. Now they are 2.1 @ 3,000 psi and it takes longer to clean and can damage seals.

I have a little 5HP Honda with Comet 3@2,000 I pieced together 12 years ago as my portable and loaner to a small# of people I trust. My primary is a 25 year old Alkota 4 gpm @ 1,800 psi hot water electric/ diesel burner machine I plumbed into my building with reel. It cleans everything I own and gets used 3-4 times a week. It's easy when you just flip the switch and go.

I closed that business 6 years ago because I couldn't keep up with everything and have a life. 90 hour weeks got old. The internet was taking a toll on parts and residential was never my market.

Ive been in the pressure cleaning biz for 25yrs i guess now we get alot of our equipment custom made outta Tennessee hard to find good sales/service pressure cleaning companies these days
I currently got three trailer units got a 2@1500 in shop i use to clean equipment and toys up with wrks great dont need much tear up these cv boots and electronics easy with much pressure
Your right gpm that’s what ya need on these rigs and most equipment and heat helps but gotta be careful with it

Recently got a 2 inch trash pump and tank for irrigation and dust control. The P500 pulls it around the property and found it it gets the mud off really quick with high volume 1 1/2 fire hose and 60 gpm. LOL.

But agree, go for the highest gpm pressure washer and reduce psi with nozzle tips.

I picked up one of these when Harbor Freight had them on sale for $64.99 (they regularly go on sale/have coupons) a few years ago when I bought my Rubicon. I wouldn't pay the $99, but I'd buy another on sale if this one s*** the bed. I use my father's big Dewalt to do any sort of real pressure washing, but this little guy does the job and I have no worries about damaging anything.
