Dec 19, 2023 We finally got a Talon after 27 months waiting for mother Honda to send one to our dealer. I guess X2 FLV's aren't as popular? Anyway, he had to drive 3 hours away and trade another dealer out of it who had just landed the crate the day before.
Over the next 8 weeks my wife and I built it from A-Z. We already had accumulated all the parts and accessories that we wanted for our forever machine. At 72 I doubt I will want to build another, LOL. Sherry did the whole street legal kit from start to finish with minimal coaching, plus installed a bunch of other things, and the insulation/sound stuff. So proud of my sweetie! Below I made a list of what all we did in order we did it, more or less. Here's a group of pics - not enough I'm sure, but by now you've all seen a Talon torn apart and put back together.
We did something unique for the air intake system. Deleted everything and did our own. Starts with a S & B Particle separator, then a Donaldson 4" in/out double element excavator filter on a tube mount just below top in the bed, a bunch of turbo hose elbows and aluminum 3" pipe, a 10-8- Dirt Sports pipe and plate and the turbo inlet hose.

Because I'm mechanically sypathetic and remember the old dayz when manufacturing processes were crap, the first oil change couldn't come soon enough. I think Honda calls for 100 miles and I paid dearly to have it done then, thinking I wanted to secure my warranty. In hindsight, I'm not sure it mattered but the dealer wasn't shy about

I did change the Sub Trans to the Honda Moly at 40 miles to work on making it quieter. It did help some.

My dealer and I know each other very well now, and he will let me do most anything to it and claim it was done at the stealership. I could tell you some stories.

Since these engines are on the close side clearance wise for a Turbo I wanted to run it a bit extra with the break-in oil.

I wear a helmet because it's warmer, dryer, quieter and safer. I still can't ride 100 yards without hearing protection. If I forget them, I have to stop and insert the soft foam earplugs.

Sherry had me dig her out a set yesterday, but she did not use them today. We'll see how that goes. All the reflectix we put under and behind things does seem to have helped both noise and heat some.

Awesome job! Now get some suspension seats in that machine. One of the best upgrades I did.

Well i checked my book today while servicing and it DOES say 150. Problem is - that's kilometers :- LOL
So it's official - WillyBill IS Dizzy!!! 200 miles on the nose but only 22.4 hours. So not too much over. It also got 85-140 full syn gear oil in the diffs plus added a wee bit of moly to them. I also found the oil supply line for the turbo was barely seeping - didn't get it quite tight enough when I installed it, but that beats breaking that puny little #4 fitting. It sure would have been a lot easier for the maintenance chores if I hadn't put all that crap on it.

What brand/model did you go with? Thanx.

WB
I went with Simpson pro sport seat. It's a nice comfortable seat, but the bottom pad is not waterproof. It's removable, but the foam will hold water. I ended up taking out the foam and wrapping it in plastic. I also added Heater pads at the same time. If I did it again, I'd probably go prp. I'll let others chime in on preferences. It is night and day difference compared to stock.

Not technically today, but I put new shoes on the Talon…Tensor Regulator 2 32” and have the Baja Designs Pro light kit to install as soon as I have the time.

I rode in a Talon for 3 days at the Sand Hollow rally, it had PRP seats. By the end of those 3 days I'd had just about enough of climbing over that outside bolster - it has a stiff/hard structural support. If I could order them without that on the out side, I would.
