Totally up to you man whichever you think is best. I'd totally trust any method you come up with.

If I'd cut my bottom section, there'd hardly be any of it left lol. Seems like I cut a good 2" or more out of it. And that was after cutting it where the bend is. But mine is different than stock cage so who knows. I'm just saying if you need new mount holes, very easy to cut more.

Roof works good but you'll have to move forward as much as possible and not try the factory holes

I rode around for an hour with my buddy and his three grown teenagers. Up and down steep stuff it's not as tippy as it looks but choosing your line becomes more important with an extra 700lbs. I couldn't have done it with my 700 it'd have given up the goat trying.
