Test for the 31s today and I think they are going to be really good. They are 8lbs per tire lighter taller and narrower than my EFX tires. The seem to fit pretty well too. No spring rub, a little a-arm rub but staying off the plastics and skid plate.

The fuel wheels are cool. They have taken a beating. I was hoping to get away from my spring and a-arm scrub with 15s and it looks like i gained some clearance. Not sure what to do with my 6 motovators and 5 fuel wheels yet.

So since my original post today, I spent some time dialing in the Elkas and my normal payload. The pioneer is my trail rig with the family and the guy hauler on beer drinking weekends. I've fought ride height a bit so I wanted to dial it in. Based on my original measurements with 360lbs evenly distributed I was previously at 50% static sag. My boys and I adjusted the front shocks to add .7" preload and the rears we added .2". This got us about 30% sag in the front and 25% in the rear. This will leave margin for a cooler, spare tires or a guy or 2 in the back occasionally without sacrificing too much empty ride quality, hopefully.

With weight in it, we are now riding at 15" under the sliders and skid plate which is about 1.5" higher than where we started. Camber looks decent as this was similar ride height to my previous setup without weight. I've generally focused on low height and good ride so this feels like a big adjustment but with 4000miles of bouncing around the Elkas and springs are likely nearing rebuild time.

I took the time look into my Elka Shock setup last week and it got me thinking about spring rates and possibly upgrading to a slightly stiffer spring. I really like the ride most of the time but with 3 or 4 guys big bumps are too much and we do bottom out.

Front springs are Coil Spring, Part No B4.5X356, 2.53in. ID, 252 lbs/in rate, 14.01 in. long
Rear springs are Coil Spring, Part No B5.4X305, 2.53in. ID, 303 lbs/in rate, 12 in. long

For guys looking to soften the ride a bit with Fox shocks this is likely a good start but I could see going up at least 25lbs/in for anyone with that doesn't primarily ride with kids or just 2 adults.

Looking at springs hyperco has a good selection of springs in 25lb increments.

At this point, I'm going to ride with it as is and try the 31's with a bit more ride height.

Did a quick look over the machine today. Remembered the rear winch seemed to be goofy the last time I tried it. Motor is locked up. Second superwinch terra45 I've had to with that issue. Guessing it got water in it. Swapped a new winch from the spare parts bin on the back. We are heading to Arkansas this week to ride near Mack's Pines next week.

For those of you nervous to tackle a CV boot. Pull the lower shock bolt and both lower a-arm bolts. Remove the tire and axle nut. Cut the CV boot clamps and old boot. Push the axle shaft all the way in and tap off the outer CV joint. It's retained by a spring clip. Slide the new boot on and fill the joint with grease. Clamp the clamps with a Oetiker pliers. Reassemble. 30 minutes or less

The slide over CV tool will not work with the Superatv replacement boots

Swapped out the original battery today from 2018. Upgraded to a Diehard T16 battery and moved it to the heater box location. This gives me more capacity and more cranking amps in the cold. Even with lots of lights and 2 winches and a plow actuator, I've never had a complaint about the stock battery. The main reason for this was improved packaging and power distribution without a stack of wires on the stock battery.

Battery specs for comparison. New 19Ah and 260cca

Old and original 200cca

Packaging, the battery is a tight fit in the new location. But still leaves me room for a strap under hood

For power distribution, I did a 4 stud box. It was originally 4 8mm studs but I converted it to 2 positive studs, 1 6mm and 1 8mm and 2 ground studs, again 1 6mm and 1 8mm. I made a 3/8" Uhmw mounting plate in the original battery location and ran new wires to the battery.

Wrapped up the job with a new battery mount

Did the muffler tip change the sound at all? Louder? Deeper? Drone? And what type/brand of tip? .
