Street-Legal ATV Requirements
Your vehicle must have (1) a license plate from your home state and (2) meet all of the requirements shown below. If your home state does not issue license plates to ATV/UTVs, your vehicle cannot be street legal in Utah. If your vehicle is not street legal it must be trailered or towed to the trailheads.

So whats the difference if I rent a sxs in moab. It has a Utah plate and my driver's license is from arkansas ? Just my twisted mind... lol

I think I mentioned that in my comments after returning from Moab last month. I talked to the rental places about that very thing. They pointed out that people come from all over the country with differing driver’s licenses, yet rent SXS’s with Utah plates. They told me they don’t see that being a deal...🤷‍♂️

Personally, my thoughts are if we outfit our SXS’s with all the required equipment, have a current plate on it and the required off road sticker, drive the speed limit, which I’ll point out again is posted at lower than the speed limit for cars, and follow the normal driving rules, we’re fine...

800 247 6332. I believe lt was $10. It was a little slow as @ByronM and myself was the first two out of state buggies they processed on new computer system.

Btw, looks like you have to call, not email, for the Parks and Wildlife department to secure the sticker that attaches to the plate????

I have yet to talk to him. I'm pretty buried with some unexpected business developments and getting family logistics squared away for a short family/business Utah vacation ride coming up next week (I'm that "PITA" detail guy in family and the business that makes stuff work). Planning on our Montrose Rimrocker stuff will get serious after that trip is complete. I will run into Ron for sure in a few weeks as he is doing a job a mile down the road. Thanks. No, I don’t think it would affect planning much, we would still arrive Montrose the same time regardless. The trailhead parking where the asphalt ends and gravel/dirt road begins is fine, but there may be a bit more security at your friends place. Just post here when you’ve had a chance to visit with him. 😊
