Riding around near the top of the world, north of Superior.

20200125 123926

On the way up, passed an old Dodge that has seen better days.

Over near Haunted Canyon lies a bit of water.

20200125 144431

The canyon itself is a few bends away...

...so named because Indians believed it to be haunted (duh!). In fact, the entire Superstition range was considered "bad medicine" by them. They didn't have Sxs's.

A nearby crow resting in an old tree undoubtedly enjoyed these stale Combo's I found in my food stash, here posing on my new tires at the top of the Montana mtn switch backs...

Sorry.
My new phone is such garbage it won't do anything in the places I've been riding. Must be those 4 bars of LTE data obscuring the signal:rolleyes:. Plus...no signal for many when riding. Plus...a lot of pics weren't getting posted "live" anyway, and I'm more interested in seeing the pics than when they were taken.

Thanks for clarifying on the passenger thing. I was sitting here looking at it thinking "don't he have 500?". So why didn't you take it?

You must be a Verizon customer.

I wish.
It's not the network, it's the phone. My old LG and others did the posts that started this thread on the same network. I will have 3 bars of LTE data, and it won't even send texts. Updated various things and even did a reset. No change. And that's not even getting into the UI, which is so stupid it clearly came from millennials.

Beautiful day in the desert...

Anyone lose a cap?

Mines and mountains everywhere...

And scary critters too!

Elephant butte. Road still has a few houses around it at this point.
20200215 163832

But after continuing on north, I started seeing names that I recognize from lost Dutchman lore. Like Buzzards Roost...
20200215 151645

...and Coffey flat, etc. I'm actually a little surprised how far up in the supers you can go by machine. At one point, I looked to be a little southeast of Weavers needle (although I couldn't see it). There were absolutely no signs...but wilderness area starts shortly after I stopped. The entire trail just sorta ran out and got very narrow from lack of use, but certainly, if you went farther, you'd want a 500.
As it was, the trail effectively ended at something more valuable than gold in the desert: water!

I may return to.this area again next time, as I really enjoyed it.

On the way out, I stopped by Whitlow damn, which keeps Queen Valley from getting smoked during monsoons...
20200215 172329

And then on home.

BUT, the desert sticks with you...

Where can you still ride in Loxahatchee? Thought all that was locked up years ago. Used to live back in the acreage, when there was only 2 houses on 56th pl N.
