There are some hitches that will work either way. I have a D ring hitch that I could turn sideways and it would be easier for hooking a chain to. Our Gator on the farm is the same way, 4 pin holes.

I saved the receiver that I had in our 700 as I was planning to reuse it. Then I tried to use it and realized the hole didn't match up. Soooo.....after a quick bit of thought, it was off to the shop to drill an auxiliary hole!

I don't understand why it wouldn't work. I use my receiver from the 700 in the 1000 without any problems. what am I missing?

The receiver bar that I have is not an OEM Honda. I'm sure it's a Ridgid (just another one from my collection). The holes came within about 3/8" of the pin being able to pass through and the weld hit on the back. Not a big deal in my book and certainly nothing that a drill and hole saw couldn't fix in just a couple minutes.

This is what I use on my pioneer 1000 so I can change out my hitches and when I hook up my trailer the muffler won't get in the way it's a hitch extension

That looks pretty handy. Thanks for sharing. However, be aware of the tongue weight, I looks like you are adding leverage which will multiply the tongue weight.

So whats the deal, did honda weld the hitch on wrong or is that how it is supposed to be?

Yes I know cut the weight in half and you be good to go keep the weight in the back of the trailer.

It should also help a little bit when backing up. The extra length will help keep it from Jack-knifing.

Good idea about cutting tongue weight in half. Don't load it like this.

It's right just a extra hole it has two holes one up and down and one in the side both go all the way through.

I installed a hitch today and there is a lot of play in the hitch/receiver connection.
I measured the pin holes in the receiver - they are a full 3/4 inch.
Does anyone have the honda hitch - does it come with a 3/4 inch pin?

Your ball mount would also need a 3/4" hole in it for that big of a pin to go through while most are only 5/8".

Yeah - that looks good.
At least I wont have to buy a bunch of new hitches (i use 3 configurations with 5/8 pins).
Not sure why Honda would go with 3/4 - very unusual.

Anyway - thanks for the tip.
