I looked in my service manual and from what I can tell the sensor sits in the front of the crankcase it's between the sub trans and crankcase. Looking at the pictures that Tirple b posted.Part # is what he has #38800-HL4-003 sensor assy angle (350 degree ) my way of thinking is that it has quite a range of degrees so it must be for all the gears. But it's strange that it doesn't say TR sensor.
However looking at the wires etc: and where they run and plug into it sure looks like this is the sensor there referring to. You will have to draw your own conclusion and decide for yourself. Best I can do.

Happy to report I will be cancelling my appointment at the dealer! I took the shift motor apart and it was full of dirt/grim. This caused a bushing to hang up on one side. I cleaned it up and it shifts like a dream. Thanks for all your help! Attaching pictures for reference.

Thats great to hear. Amazingly it's a easy thing to take off and clean and put back together. Only wish when I had mine apart that I should have taken pics of how dirty it actually gets inside . and what it should look like cleaned up. Again thanks for posting how by cleaning up the shift motor it, has corrected your problems .
