Can the 1000-3 bumper be modified to work on the 1000-5?
@filas4life it actually bolts up to the machine, P1k3. The problem is as you can see in my photos when you lower the tailgate it hits the top of the bumper. I have a friend that is a fabricator and he is coming to look at the brackets to see about making new brackets so that it sits lower. That is all the manufacture would have to do is make the brackets different.

If you have someone that can make you a 1" square tubing gate like I have seen on here then there would not be an issue. If you just remove the gate all together then no issue. Or like @TripleB done and heat the plastic to mash it in then it will work with no problem. Honestly I am leaning toward heating the plastic and mashing it in but I am going to let my buddy look at the brackets first.

I will keep yall updated on which direction I go and show pictures once complete.

Yeah I contacted them and they said its a no go and have intentions of making a newer one as of now! Ugh!
Yep, they told me the same thing but I really wanted that bumper for several reasons so I rolled the dice and again it does bolt up just the tailgate hits when you lower it. So if you don't ride with your gate down then no issue or if you don't use the gate very often it's no issue.

Alright guys it will bolt up BUT...
the tailgate hits the top of the bumper when you open it. So my question is the tailgate different after 2017? Can I get some photos of a 2016 or 17 tailgate? Preferably a side view? If the gate is different I can by an oem for like $50 or I can just take it off for what I do or have one built out of 1" sq tubing which is what I might do.
Let me hear yalls thoughts. View attachment 221906View attachment 221907View attachment 221908View attachment 221909

I would recommend a heat gun and not a torch if you want to mold it. I use a harbor freight gun often and used to make pvc bows. Just heat the entire piece slowly and steadily and then open the gate and place a weight on it to hold it against the bumper while it cools and it should form to the bumper and nothing should melt. It should look much better than a torch if done right.

I started with a heat gun but I just didn't have the patience to finish with it.

So my buddy came this afternoon and we took the bumper off and lowered it about 1.5" which will clear the tailgate and still clear the muffler when you tilt the bed. He carried the brackets with him to his shop and is going to basically cut the part that mounts to the bumper off and move it down 1.5" and weld them back up. Once he has them done I will post pictures, may be next week before he does it though.

Just out of curiousity, what's the need for the rear bumper? Serious question.
@Adam490 I'm in the heavy woods a lot so I have bumped some trees while backing up. Keep in mind I have a double decker 6 bay dog box in the bed so I have very limited rear view sight.

Well there great when your blind in one front eye and the rear is the same! OK, OK, I don't need one for bashing into things, just need a little protection for rear tail light lens, The store here has a great plug and play automatic back up light system and with side view mirrors with passengers in the rear you can still see what's mostly behind you, the light weight bumper is just like a curb feeler. HA! Check out the back up lights at the store here.

Ok, my buddy cut the bumper bracket off of the frame bracket for a lack of better words. He then moved the bumper brackets down 1.5" and welded them back and plated the back side.
Fits like socks on a bitty now, LOL.1fb6d96d83310dc70156c476dbcb4bb0Dcf276a1d8642a5e4f127ecfb3620e2a0079e1f6516d0eda64eb7790efbdd250F92939a461682d0eb8eeac2604b188506da14e137032c0f2567c8fbeee3ba348
