I made mine too. 1/8" ABS. I've got about $170 in the whole thing.

I agree the roof is ugly but I have scrubbed more trees than I care to admit stuffing my Honda down tighter trails than it had business being in and it has held up and find my thread I only paid $500 for my roof I posted a photo of the receipt every where else wanted $600-650

I have the factory top. I agree it's ugly but is easy to take on and off. Main reason for getting it cause there was 500 dollars on Honda accessories when I bought my p1000 a few months ago. My two piece Honda windshield fits good against the top.
I am in IL and plan on taking mine out to AZ in future daughter lives in Mesa and have been out rock climbing with jeeps and wonder how the pioneer will handle the terrain out there?

It is incredible on the rocks. That's about all we have around here, are ledges where the soft soil has eroded, and the rocks remain. I deal with far more rocks than mud. I rode a Honda 400 ATV on much the same roads, but feel a lot more secure in the 1K5. I went for the Honda full roof and wind deflector, and it helps keep the sun to a minimum, and the overhanging tree limps out of our cab.

The Honda roof makes me think “golf cart”. That said, it does push all manner of stuff you come into contact with up and over the roof. It is tough.

Whatever you get.. keep in mind the side rops will need to slide on trees and crap. You don’t want anything that will get bent, broke or has hardware that hanger and prevents using them as sliders.

Strip of UHMW does wonders and there’s no damage to roof. I use it all the time against trees. Might have to replace a rivet but about it.
