Have a couple buddies trying to take me out for my first ever SXS ride.
Seen the maps and whatnot. 1000-5 Trail capable on the intermediate trails? Am I?

Your P1000-5 will have no problem at Coalmont. I've been there a few times. Here's a link to the thread of the last time I went there Coalmont ride Father's Day weekend

Coalmont can be challenging once outside the official "Coalmont" trail map.
And thats the fun part.

Agree. A 1000-5 is more capable than you probably realize. I wouldn’t worry about the trails as it’s more about what you’re willing to do.

Had a blast riding with good friends and made new ones. I think we ended up with 5 Pioneers total. All 3 were represented. @Koda @SundayRdr @Yankee @lee all showed up to have some fun. Ended up over 50 miles. We pulled out at 9:43 and didn't get back til after 7pm. Trails we're awesome and new...
