But still 50 years after this, we can't have Pre-load and rebound adjustment ?
If memory serves me correctly it’s a 12mm for the high speed dampening nut, and a standard flat screwdriver for the low speed dampening. Haven’t looked to see if it’s in the tool kit.Did they think ahead and use a common Honda size to adjust the nut? 12/14/17/19mm etc?
Will the wrench be included in the onboard tool kit?
Don't be using common sense now, it will confuse peopleDon't see crossover rings there.

Having the choice. I will take rebound adjustment over not having it every time. Deal breaker noRebound adjusters on offroad shocks are not really needed. You want the tire to get back to the terrain as quickly as possible without bouncing and don't want the shock to start packing because it can't rebound fast enough.
All true, I went live valve no regretsIt's a bad idea to go backwards with product development. They delivered the original Talon with two springs and crossovers, copying what the off-road market has been using for decades. It even had newbs like myself thinkin' - Hey, I'm cool, I got crossover technology just like the big kidz.
And now they want me to go to the fookin' aftermarket for something that came stock 5 years ago? Really, really, BAD idea Honda. #middlefinger
Really p!issed off about this back-step. I was thinking about upgrading to get the new power steering, better DCT programming and what I thought was better shock damping (I rode in and drove a '23 Talon X and it's stock suspension was better than my stock shocks or replacement set of Shock Therapy worked shocks on my Talon R).
The Showa plant and an R&D building in my home town changed the name on the buildings to Hitachi Astemo a few years ago. At one time they were making hydraulic cylinders for Mercury Marine in this plant. That’s is what I had thought I had heard

Lot of things come in to factor and not everybody is the same. You mentioned race bikes. That area for sure. How I tuned , valved my equipment for me might not be optimum for someone else. Accurate rider feedback is very important to getting the best setuphi hi - the great s***ty shock (and fork) saga will never end - we all b****ed and still do about this on dirt bikes forever - bottom line - most that want comfort, race, need to be setup, etc. for the area they ride - and b**** and spend money to fix it, including me.....
I am not sure this will ever end, except if ya buy a poo poo - im annoyed as well that Honda is so far off the radar screen.
TWSSI have a lot in the back, so I need at least 2 inches more.
Have about 300 miles in the '24 Talon X with Showa shocks on the same terrain I've been riding my '16 P500 for years, and '23 Wolverine X2 on. I sold the P500, and traded (lost my A*S) the Wolverine for the Talon X. It rides like A B S O L U TE SH*T. Almost as bad as the P500, even with sway bars removed, tires at 6psi, and all settings at softest. Apparently the R rides much better.. Still love the machine, but it rides so bad, you would almost think that Honda is punishing me for not getting the R model. Honda clearly doesn't give a F**K. ALL the popo's ride a 1000% better. Even the junk-ass chinesiums ride better. Who can afford to spend this kind of money just to have to fix the f'n thing to enjoy it?Any opportunity for ride quality impressions?

Thanks. I'll just have to live with it for awhile. There's just no budget left to play withFor what it's worth, my 2019 Talon R with the Fox shocks rode like crap stock too. They have totally missed the mark with their shock tuning and spring selection on all Talon models. Unfortunately the only way to fix Hondas mistake is to send the shocks out to a professional and have them revalved and resprung. Their are no magical tender or main springs that can be swapped out that solves the issues, because without a proper revalve to match the spring rates and terrain it's all just a big "feel good" bandaid that doesn't solve the problem.
And yes, it feels like the compression damping is stupid hard. Hard to believe a billion dollar company can miss the mark this badly across so many platforms, so many times...Thanks. I'll just have to live with it for awhile. There's just no budget left to play with
Odd, I have had my Talon 1000X-4 with Showa's for nearly 7 weeks now and find it rides just fine. Maybe you have the Hi / Lo speed compression not adjusted correctly, I didn't have to mess with mine at all, it rides fine at 15-20 mph on rocky trails in East TN.Have about 300 miles in the '24 Talon X with Showa shocks on the same terrain I've been riding my '16 P500 for years, and '23 Wolverine X2 on. What he said - unfortunately to fix this is gonna cost hard earned cash and don’t take the advice of a true professional that knows what they are doing lightly so u get what you need for the terrain/type of riding you do.For what it's worth, my 2019 Talon R with the Fox shocks rode like crap stock too.
