That was my favorite part of being a boater in MI for all those years: Open containers and consumption = perfectly legal, but the operator could not be under the influence. Crazy part was: A OWI/DUI infraction while operating a watercraft affected your driving record (and, hence, your auto insurance premiums), even though you weren't in a vehicle on a public roadway.I'm sure there is the same laws for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence, ergo doesn't matter if it's a car on the road or UTV on the trails, can't operate under the influence or have open containers, etc.
