Not a lot of ground clearance with them.
I added a switch to isolate the battery.
The remote system has a parasitic draw and will drain the battery when parked.

A kind of related story about that chinese stuff.

I was visiting a dealer one day and the young guy looked like he was mauled by a mountain lion.

I asked what happened and he said he bought one of those little mini rice rockets and the front wheel came off at about 40mph.

He said the wheel wasn't loose, the threads just came right of the axle, lesson learned.

You have to be careful with some of that chinese crap.

Stay away from Chinese crap if u can. I have a shelf and a building full of parts for them. I've been keeping them running for years there a total nightmare. I bought 2 new at same time they each had different stators different cdi box's different carb set ups lol and trust me u will be changing all that alot it was a full time job keeping them both running.

Unfortunately I’m afraid that my choices are shelled out old Chief throwing rods or Chinese junk, or old carts with HF motors.

I found this older gokart. I used to assemble them for sale back in the day. I believe they are no longer made, but were made in the USA. I believe this is probably something around a 2010 vintage

I believe it is a Manco Dingo. This one has the 13hp Honda motor with battery start option. Unfortunately no reverse.

Would you buy it and what would you give for it if it’s in good running order?

13 hp should be enough to have fun . Just me I'd give 4 or 5 hundred cause of the motor but I'd try for less if possible.

Around my area that would go between $600-$900. That 13hp is nice though. But no suspension.......

I have these 2 for my 3 boys. They are the Hammerhead brand that is owned by Polaris....I believe. They have been really good for us. The bigger one has been to quite a few off road parks and been lots of fun. It has over 500 miles on it and almost all of them have been in Tennessee!! My boys now ride full size machines and we are looking to sell them. These have been great at teaching them the basics. Both have electric start and reverse!20210920 19202220210920 19203720210920 19205420210920 19210720210920 19211920210920 19212720210920 19213820210920 19214620210920 19224220210920 192303

That's awesome. I shot you a PM; been looking for something for the kids to ride around at the farm that's got a cage. My 4 year old is already over the Power Wheels and a go-kart would be awesome until she's a little older.

You could always build one. My son drug this shopping cart home from a wash when he was in grade school. He convinced me that we were going to build a Go-Kart out of it. That thing sat in the back yard and even made the move to a new house. We finally got to it the summer after college graduation when he had a month before he left to join the Army. Great Father Son memories putting this together. Here is a video.

Go with something easy to work on and get parts for.

I have been considering this.

right now the focus for me is to just get the interest sparked / confirmed.

The dingo I shown earlier while not the “best” I think fits the bill as a starting point. Definitely I’m paying more than I would like…but I believe I could flip it fast if the kids don’t like it. I have arranged to pick it up Friday afternoon.

@Hometeam thanks for the offer…certainly tempting, but I’d estimate I’d have the better part of $400 in fuel just to get close enough to pick them up. For me it’s 9 hr drive to Chitcago alone.
