@Mudder , I believe the 500 and 700 are smaller ROPS diameter than the 1000.
@Tramguage1 proceed with caution, those may be too small for your machine.

Yep P500. Just tried it, fits front, rear and side ROPS, 1 5/8 inch diameter. Same as OEM rear view mirror clamp. If already ordered, could work with 1/8 difference, with a cheap drum sander if needed as clamps are 1/4 thick, take off 1/16 each ID side. Will need your own nuts/bolts to attach anything to it.

I'll just try and I large the hole with a drum sander if I need to. Heck if that's not a good solution then I'll sell them to someone with a 500.

So I broke down and purchased a TYT TH 8600. Now I’m trying to program it. If anyone can help I would greatly appreciate it.

I have downloaded Chirp but when I pulled in the usb cable it said that the usb is not supported.
@Boyer , @Ragnar406 helped me out greatly with my TH 8600, took several attempts with software download from TYT site (supplied disc did not work). Also had to do the COM 3 driver process word for word. One instruction file said to hold down PTT when powering up unit for programming, but never worked, so powered up without PTT, hit browse to download Ragnars406 custom file for me and bam...Clone successful. Heres a screen shot he sent for manual programming of common frequencies. The BASIC screen on software also good to set options.

@Mudder if you click the basic tab, you can do a custom welcome message. Its the bottom right boxes, save the new file before you upload it to the radio. It will show up on the radio when you power it up.

For some unknown reason that I’m not able to figure out, I was able to download your file to the software but it would not download to the radio. So I copied the channels to a new file and it downloaded everything.

Thanks again.

Sweet! Glad you got

Baofeng BF-F8HP just arrived, and boy is that unit small, like a pack of cigarettes. Now the programming learning begins. Have the cable. Any heads up would be appreciated. Glad I got the Ham lic, good hobby so far.
I would try the Chirp program that is a free download online...

Heading towards being like Britain, you have to pay almost as much to have a TV "license" there as you do for the TV.

If mobile base station radios can be used on those freqs and at greater outputs, why can the handhelds not? Transceiver is a Transceiver....
