When my Dad died, the only thing I wanted from the estate was his 30-30 Marlin lever action.

I always loved that gun, since childhood.

I know I am not alone here, wood and steel manually operated rifles hold a big piece of my heart in the firearms world. Here's a 1949 model '94 in 32 Win Special I picked up at the gun show last Saturday. I guess I am taking my place as an old man getting older, but this is the stuff we grew up with. Just like a '69 Camaro or an old Ford pickup it triggers the nostalgia of hanging with my dad.

A friend gave us Winchester 94 is 32 win special. About the same vintage as yours. My wife has it on display in her gallery.

After we had our first son, I went out and bought a Henry to pass down. I can’t wait to take him shooting! My dad made the case out of leather, hand buckstitching, with crushed black velvet, and a padded molding. It’s the Silver Eagle version.

^^^ Darn if that isn't the coolest thing HeadedOut! Thank you for sharing that and I can't wait to see pics of that young man taking his first shots, I hope you'll share. I have a Henry Golden Boy that has about the slickest action of any lever gun I own, great choice.

I have one exactly like yours, perhaps a little older.
Birthday present 20 plus years ago.
Harvested a ton of game with it too, as a kid.
Had a saddle ring .32 Special as a kid my brother stole and sold

I have some heirlooms that I’ll posts on here when I can. I have the antiques safe back at my parents. We have a first year Winchester 45-70, and multiple 30 W.C.F. Rifles dated pre 1900. I believe the dates were 1887/89/96? One of them with the saddle ring lost its front sight and story has it, my dads great uncle replaced it with a penny. Not sure of the year but I’ll get photos for you guys when I can. Hoping around Christmas.

Heres 2, a marlin 30-30 (left) my old man got me when I was 16 and a Marlin .22 mag my Grandfather gave me that he traded for some yrs ago in Ky where he was from.

Of corse this pic was taken before the Fire that melted all my firearms down from my neighbors Poo Poo when he came over to visit. Was that dandiest thing! 🤣

Not a gag, Hopefully a diversion from the stupid wackos in our currant Government our State and Most importantly Federal that wants to slowly take away our 2nd amendment rights. FJB

As for my constant railing on Poo Poo’s, thats all truthful railing, remember i owned 4 and still have one. They will and still are fire traps!
Not to mention a rig that keeps a poo poo mechanic employed for life

Dad was the collector.
He had a couple 45-70 's ; breach loader calvary rifle, carried in Custer's last, verified by s/n. And a 45-70 Sharp's Buff rifle of the same Era. Gobs of period Winchester levers of all calibers. Also several Colt pistols.
Cancer and a need for money, sold off his collection.

Marlin 336. ,35 Remington. My dad gave it to me , it.was a good deer killer when I was younger. I still shoot it from time to time.

This is one of my newer Marlins. Chambered in 🦬 😎 I just got the lathe it’s on from an auction. Waiting for some gears to come in so I can thread the barrel and put one of my .458 cans on it!

^^^ I am generally not a fan of laminated stocks, but Marlin does it the absolute best of anyone. That's beautiful! You got enough there to thread for that fuel filter or are you going to have to cut that feed tube back a scosh?
