Ever find one of these in your garage? (rattlesnake)

My boss is out of town on a job...he calls me and says his wife sees a snake in the garage and doesn't want the little kids to get bit. So I run over to check it out, and it's a Prairie Rattlesnake. We don't see them often - first time I've seen one in my life - so it was cool. Yes, I let it go outside of town.

Lol! when I was a kid on the farm in central Oregon, we used to kill a dozen or more prairie rattlers each summer. Some of em got pretty aggressive!
I used to skin them & make belts out of them. Think I still have one...

I guess that must be the equivalent of the Pygmy Rattler here. They are very bad tempered.

Why would you relocate a rattle snake would not it be easier to slap him up side the head with a shovel or something?
They're not protected are they?

Personally, I would not give a rats butt if it was protected or not ...... around my house, it would be dead.

We are right at the edge of the prairie rattler’s range up here in NE AZ.

So it’s a personal thing. I love reptiles. Always have. There is enough room for him and me both up here in rural N/E AZ.

Scary thing in this case is the little kids that live at the home. I’m building a new home just 4 houses down, so I showed it to my kids as a warning.

We get them on the front porch and around the yard regularly.

Thats not for me, no way would I try to catch it. I would have a long pole and a gun, They can have the rest of the world just stay away from my home !

I've had a Brown, Black and King snake in the shop. I have no problem with those. I went to bear hug a big log beside the shop and my hand moved under it. That copperhead is no longer with us haha. Thing was a big around as a pringles can. I looked like Rambo when I came back out to get him.

We always called them Sidewinders. Could’ve sold it to a herpetologist for some good $$$ cash and more so if it’s a rarer breed. Make antivenin. Or dinner and a belt/hat band.

I used to catch them all the time around Osceola NF

That would be the biggest CH I’ve ever heard of. Around here they’re usually quite small, say two feet and the diameter of a 12 gauge shell....
