Has anyone ever taken apart the EPS units on these things?

Do you know if the new style (2022+ I think) Talon EPS Motor and EPS controller are plug n play in a 2020 Talon?
There is some overlap in the change between the new and old system.
They are not compatible (not plug and play).
The new system has more of the stuff it needs packed internally (steering angle sensor) and it uses the can bus to read speed.
So it's not easily retrofitted either.

Surprisingly the PS system has been pretty trouble free for us since its introduction in 2008.

They had the one recall early to replace the unit on atvs and I've seen 1 bad EPS ECU go bad, but other then issues with loose battery cables or weak batteries, it's been bulletproof.

Not the PS...that's easy enough. CAN bus.

We're at a point where a cracked head or taillight can bring down enough of the modules to cause a no-start. SxS's don't need that type of complexity, but I'm sure no one realizes that just because you can, doesn't mean you should.

I agree, can bus has been causing motorcyclists headaches since it was introduced. I don't see it being a good idea on a SxS either. I ride alone deep into the backcountry and don't need some persnickety s*** running my SxS. Complexity is the devil.
