Been busy but not too much interesting crap I guess. Been getting all the ‘93 sensors, wiring, oil lines and intercooler setup on the ‘90 engine, has been some trial and error. Learned a couple things, but mainly use correct wire harness or have more cash lol.
Newer turbo is in, had to have a new stainless oil line made for it today. I rebuilt it even though it had minimal play. New exhaust gaskets. Ready to go, more boost!

New

DE4A5E5A 8CE3 4F3E 8B7A 99008994086C

Factory new ‘94-‘98 Cummins thermostat, gaskets and housing for improved flow. Also new HD accessory belt and added tachometer sensor for later use.
A1276674 F8A6 4D29 85E3 D362A089EF1D

New oil and fuel filters as well as water separator. New intake cover and painted plus gasket, all new sensors, and extended ‘93 engine wiring to accept this engine. It’s all plugged in and bracketed. Fuel lines connected both ends.
View of completed wiring and fuel.

Ran into some burnt up wiring in the cab, probably had something to do with the ass hole wiring job the previous owners on my donor truck did. Got 90% cleaned up including fuse box. I have this plug to find and replace as of yet.
70C0AFF5 DFEF 4559 9BC4 0583A8F84816

Got money down on the rest of a donor truck today so I ordered up my new full intake setup like the below picture however mine is being custom made for my turbo and the needed ‘90 inlet.
8B53A50B C584 4814 8255 93076685D747

It’ll resemble this, mine is coming unfinished but I’ll paint it (I know a painter who works cheap lol)
56CEFCE3 26D2 4248 B2C8 30A91C09F3CE

Finally got the right gaskets for transfer case so I can get that in. Took awhile to find someone who makes the correct thickness. Wasn’t buying cheap reproduction and wind up with leaks.
01BF1C28 B7D8 4244 80AF C3122D4A5F21

My luck hasn’t been the best but still going. Definitely behind and it’s getting cold. I know it’s not interesting stuff so I just didn’t post.

. There was no damage to the wrapping on my new body parts and I wanted to leave the cardboard on till I needed them, unfortunately after opening them today I discovered the new front doors were wadded up good. Reminded me of Jum Carrey in Ace Ventura when he purposely f***ed up the packages he delivered. Damn! Of we’ll I got most fixed today. The new fenders were great luckily.

But a productive day was had. Repaired slight rust and body damage in inside of used rear doors. Then painted them both front doors and front fenders as well as inner fenders. 8 parts in all. Got hood and front core support to go tomorrow, then everything will be painted on the insides so I can start bolting up body parts. Because of the two-tone I’m doing all the parts need to be installed then painted on exterior so both colors line up correctly. Also waiting for bodywork on exterior so everything lines up right. But the pickup got a lot more white today!

That sucks. Such a stupid thing to fail.
Ya your trans considered mechanical but its still got some controls and an e-overdrive. Regardless of what some say they are pretty solid, can usually be fixed with just adjusting the bands and a filter. Bought one that “needed rebuilt bad” but an hour work and it shifted nice and hard till I sold it two years later. If it’s slipping shops will always tell people it needs rebuilt regardless though

Yeah I don’t think it’s anything to die with a broke band or bad clutches as it shifted fine that morning and just went all at once. I’d say it’s in the electrical part of it especially considering it’s always had the 2nd gear start symptom unless you completely stop.

I had an intake plate similar to this on my 6.7. It raised the roof on #'s 4,5 & 6 cylinders so they would run cooler by receiving more boost. I also had done away with the preheater and had a larger boost tube and intake elbow.

I did get a taller heavier duty aftermarket intake plate. It also sits 3” back so it’s centered on the intake (factory 91-93 sits more forward and starves rear like you say) First pic is setup on my ‘92, second is setup in the new pickup(currently tape over intake till intercooler setup arrives.

Larger intake elbow and tubes on the way. Also went new steel intake gasket so I can comfortably more boost.
Here’s old intake.

Busy again today. Put sound deadening in front fenders then paintable rubberized undercoating followed by som trim black. Won’t see any of this but it’ll help quiet the beast under the hood.

Hood is jammed after some light body work, kept all factory decals because they will be correct to the new build. Hood will receive a new under hood insulator but did give it full color underneath.

Core support received the same treatment and was able to keep the warning labels as well. Surface rust was ground down and treated with Rust Mort prior to the sealer. White on the inside but flat blacked the entire front so no white will be seen through grill. I always think that looks tacky.

A 6.7 intake is between #'s1 & 2 cylinders and restrictive with the intake heater and intake design. When they were subject to more boost, #5 and #6 cylinders ran hotter. If the head gasket gave up it was normally around 5 and 6 cylinders. I had changed all that intake stuff on mine because I ran more boost. Fortunately it never needed a head gasket and it had around 230,000 pretty hard miles.
