P1000 Clutches burnt up

I'm not even going to pretend I know how the DCT works.

I'm pretty sure on my red pioneer, it doesn't have a chance of making it to 10,000 miles on the original clutches.

It may have something to do with this.....

I don't see the problem.

Just wondering if when I rolled, if maybe somehow oil could have ditched and that led to less lubricated clutches. Dealer told me that when you change oil there is a seperate thing that fills and you only change it once a year. Some kind of a bowl that holds oil and when you fill it up, it overflows into the rest of the engine.

Probably bro science. Idk. Seems odd to me that one mud hole was enough to kill my clutch. Maybe not.

Hopefully all that's behind me now anyways.

Someone else is always taking the pictures. I will typically ride with the group and we take pictures of each other. Most of us have cameras mounted on the front of the vehicles, so we're recording just about everything. The pictures above are still shots taken out of the videos.

ive been researching how the dct works and i still think stiffer clutch springs will help it seems most ppl that are having problems are usually riding slower or in reverse which makes sense because lower rpms=clutch slipping a stiffer spring will raise the rpms the clutchs engage and grab harder also seems like this will raise the oil pressure that is used for shifting in auto mode

Wonder what kind of issues the car manufactures like Porche, BMW, Nissan , Audi and Volkswagon had when implementing the dual clutch transmission?

I think that is just a dampening spring.

I have been doing the same. I worked at a shop making clutches for drag bikes for many years. But this design from Honda isn't like many others. So it's difficult to dissect.

I wish these did have a single basket. I've got alot of experience with drag bikes as well. Stick a slider and a lockup on there and bingo...No more clutch problems. Ever.

exactly!!!!! but without actually seeing the clutches apart i can only guess but im still leaning towards the springs if honda used the identical clutch set as in the africa twin then it was designed for something almost 1/3rd the weight i do know for a fact the more pressure faster on a clutch = less slipping longer lifer and stronger faster shifts and it doesnt matter the application its just the truth about a clutch

Or as @jak9922 mentioned, a good set of springs. Some gold ones from Barnett would probably solve all problems. But no, Honda had to get fancy and use oil pressure and solenoids to do a simple task. I don't want fancy on my sxs, i want tough.

It surprises me though that there are half as many clutches and they are only 2/3 the size of my 200pound dirt bikes.

I could be wrong here but I "think" oil pressure is responsible for clamping force as well. I'd sure love to be wrong.

You should see the tiny basket/clutches they used on the cbr900rr. But there were 8 or 9 fibers too. I used Honda plates and only mod was the Barnett springs. I consistently nailed 1.40 something 60' times on a dot street tire. Honda knows how to make a clutch. Not sure what they were thinking here.
