even if the hole wasnt there its weak sheet metal with no bracing almost like a "crash point" so that took the hit instead of transfering to the frame either way weak as hell and ill test out the support on sunday lol

Mine looks pretty similar to yours. Hitting those hidden rocks while riding the river. Gotta get mine beefed up. Broke the bolts on the underside of mine too. Always a project but so much fun!!

Just out of curiosity, if you think that it's a crash point designed to absorb impact without transferring damage to the frame, or worse, what would be the purpose of beefing it up?

Built a skid plate, mainly to cover that hole.
Wrapped it with thinner material than what you bent but...
can't go wrong adding more metal!

I just recently put a winch on my 700 and was highly unimpressed by the construction of the front bummper. For this reason I mounted my winch to the main frame instead of the bumper mounts. It must be a Honda thing to save money. Imo the down tubes should extend all the way to the frame.
