With a UHMW edge, the float doesn't matter, it slides smooth and quiet over the surface and you can scrape going forward or back. Zero complaints about float actually using it. Lots of perceived complaints from the internet
Not sure what the UHMW edge is but on the old machine with the electric actuator, once its in a position it stays there until changed so when you encounter a steep change in the terrain, the blade either comes off the ground or the plow stays down and the front end of the machine lifts off the ground..

There's enough travel in the Pioneer suspension to keep the plow. It has not been an issue

UHMW-PE (Ultra-High Molecular Weight Polyethylene) is the mechanically strongest plastic ever invented. A 1" thick piece can stop a 45 ACP bullet. It is excellent in impact resistance and abrasive wear - in some applications, such as aggregate chutes etc., it has better wear resistance than steel. It also is slippery, and although it's not quite as slippery as Teflon, it is far more durable and mechanically stronger.

It also machines easily using wood working tools and machine tools. It can be heat formed (at temperatures approaching 400 F). It does have a higher thermal coefficient of expansion than most other construction materials, so this should be considered when using larger pieces. E.g. when attaching larger pieces to a substrate like steel, one or both ends of the UHMW might be slotted for mounting screws, so the plastic won't buckle or break things as temperature changes. In a nutshell, UHMW-PE is freak'n amazing!

I took a harbour freight tow strap, cut it in half and taped the cut end to the drum.
The cheap cast hook attaches to the plow.
I wouldn't try to pull anything with the HF hooks, but the plow is pretty low impact so I used it.

As dirtstiffs-1000 shows above there are ready made plow straps also.
I do like @lee says and use the 12' harbor freight strap cut in half for my plow lift. I have a enough room on my winch between the drum and bars that I can leave my synthetic winch line on and just add the harbor freight strap to the end. I just removed the winch line thimble and hook and place the rope through the loop and connect it with a little electrical tape. Once it has a few winds it will stay and the nice thing is if I let a little extra out it doesn't rats next. The only time I have broke it was when trying to lift the plow with it buried in the snow pile. I've learned that backing a little before trying to lift the plow up saves on all the winch lines no matter what they are made of.
