He bent a tie rod Sat. morning. I could not believe my eyes or my watch. We stopped, winched it off the ground, removed tire, removed bent tie rod, replaced tie rod, zip tied boot, replaced tire, let winch down. Boom 13 minutes. I was just power washing my machine an hour or so ago and found his bent tie rod in my bed. Amazing!!!
I’ve got 3 or 4 and I know i’ve used 2 different ones and they’ve worked.
So I got to thinking about it 32mm is real close to 1.25. Ran out to the garage and that Sunex crows foot that I bought measures 31.85" at the tip. By comparison my williams open end wrench is 32.45mm. For $7 I should probably just grind it out and make it work
JR Plaza bent one a couple years ago, that was underivable, we got a strap, hooked a winch up to it, straighted it out as much possible, rode the rest of the week end and he's never replaced it?
The crows foot is the way to go... it’s a b**** to get up there and get any leverage and room with a wrench, much less channel locks. I won’t say it can’t be done. But the crows foot makes it much easier and faster.
I ordered that same wrench. I was changing inner tie rod on my sons camry and rented the tool from advance auto to do it. The tool wouldn't fit. Then I remembered having the crows foot in my pioneer. It worked perfect on the camry.
Channel locks and pliers are easy enough. It's an essential tool you need to carry anyway. And eliminates 1 tool you need to have on board.
I can testify to the channel locks doing the job. Plumber32 changed the tie rod with the channel lock and a regular pair of pliers. He did, however, use an impact driver to remove and replace the lug nuts.
