some like them and some dont. will they protect the boots? Eh..depends On what your riding in.
they sure as $hit hold alot of mud tho! Ive had and have them. Ive had boots tear with them on. IMO its 50/50 and in most cases a pice of mind

Swapped out rear a arms today . Here's the stock ones with honda aluminum a arm guards. They definitely hold mud that can't be washed out without taking them off. I won't be putting new ones on for now

Wow that last picture looked really nasty. Looks like dried mud and maybe some rust from the a arm... How long were they on the machine? They seem fairly easy to install and remove so maybe they should be removed from time to time to thoroughly clean and inspect. Thanks for showing that..

Depends on the brand you get, those solid ones would suck. I've had StrongMade stick stoppers on my 500 for 6 yrs. They can get packed with mud too but clean out super easy as they're riddled with holes by design. They protect the boots too. With slight modification, I was also able to make them work when I switched to forward arched arms. They're powder coated steel and I've bounced and slid them over rocks several times. Looks like they make them for the 700 and 1K too. FWIW

Wow that last picture looked really nasty. Looks like dried mud and maybe some rust from the a arm... How long were they on the machine? They seem fairly easy to install and remove so maybe they should be removed from time to time to thoroughly clean and inspect. Thanks for showing that..
The machine is 4 years old. I think the previous owner put them on right after he bought it. He probably never took them off. I don't think it's rust. Just the color of the mud. I'll take a closer look tomorrow and report back. I always take them off my rincon after I've been in a lot of mud and wash it out good. These would be pretty easy to take off to clean. Those ricochet ones look like they have an extra hole where these honda ones don't.

Sorry. Tomorrow turned into 2 weeks. But looks like no rust visible anywhere. Just dirt

This is an old pic. but u can see the guards well. Ive had alot of mud and sticks in the mud. only one time did one of those sticks poke a boot. U can have that without as well. So again 50/50 imo. They look good tho.View attachment 325242

What tires are you running? Same size all around? Looks like you have the mud buster fender flares, do you like them?
Yes & Yes
they are LT tires. Have had them the last 3 years. use them for all terrain. never had an issue.

I have Trail Armor on my rig…and full skid too.

I pull mine off for winter. Really don’t drive in heavy mud as it’s been pretty dry last few years around my acreage. They are very easy to remove quickly.

I too have the trail armor guards. That's pretty much all there was in 16. So far they haven't let any trail debris make it to the boots or axles.
