P500 When do we need a relay?

So anyway, I'm back home now and my light bar is here, and my switches, and quick disconnects, and the relay I ordered. I was already planning on using the relay, I was really just wondering about post #1. I'm hoping my custom switch plate arrives tomorrow and I can post some pics of a light bar mounted though the windshield... assuming it's not a disaster.

Installation and test run went well. As soon as my switch plate arrives, I'll wire it up permanently. I posted pics in a new thread. P500 - Light bar mounted through windshield
