No one wants a sob story but I bought this thing to take my 5&7 year old boys out hunting and fishing. Not to mud with it. I had to get a loan and now it sits cause they won’t even give me proof that there’s water. Probably cause there is none. The lawyer wants 2500 to take this motor to a specialist and the dealer wants 800 for taking it apart before I can take the motor out of the shop even though it was scheduled for new clutches. Plus it’s not registered with the DMV so there’s no such thing as lemon law. So fighting Honda only costs more money.

Is anybody still on this forum? I have a long story about Honda not warranting my 2017 pioneer 1000 after they say “water intrusion.” And I hired a lawyer. I’m not usually that type. Here’s the info and it’s all documented....
Motor blew up on a Friday and it was scheduled the next Monday to go in for clutch slipping. Took it In told the Shop what happened I was on a gravel “road” with my kids way out and wide open, tires locked sent us in the woods. They tore it apart and said yep no problem it’s covered. Two weeks go by and the dealership said the rep wanted to see it cause this is the very first one Honda said has blown up. Dealer said word for word ...rep walked in didn’t even look at anything and said water intrusion tell him to call his insurance. Dealer called me and said this rep doesn’t know his a motor from the hole In a$$. So I called insurance. They took oil samples and pictures and determined it was engine mechanical engine failure. So I called corporate Honda and they said they have proof it was water. I told them that’s fine I need it to give to my insurance. I don’t think I drove through any water fast like they’re saying but who knows. So Honda just write me a letter explaining the water and give me some proof to take to my insurance and we’ll be on our way. They put me On hold come back and say the proof they have is Honda’s property and is confidential! Wtf is that? So you have Area 51 confidential info that says my motor had water in it even though the dealer and insurance say it couldn’t have cause the oil was not milky and there would’ve been no way to flush it out with the motor in a million pieces but I can’t have it? They said yep that’s it. So I called the dealer and said ok now I’m screwed you guys say no water the insurance says no water and Honda motor co. Says water and they have proof but it’s confidential? The dealer said Honda never took any parts OR pictures! That’s snakey actually down right corrupt. So I called Honda motor co. Again and said you didn’t even take pictures or parts. They told me if I can prove there wasn’t water in the motor they would cover it!! What is that I paid 20 grand plus bought the extended warranty and now I have to prove there wasn’t water in my motor?!!! Sorry this is long but that’s part of my story. I had Honda EVERYTHING and now I won’t buy any compactor, mixer, bike atv anything Honda ever again!!!!!
I guess since you can't prove there is no big foot, there must be one, right? Seems like the logic Honda is using.

I would suggest asking for someone higher up on the next phone call. Honda CS is no different than most in that those who answer the phone at the bottom of the pile often haven't a clue as to what they are talking about. Prob some kid working his way through college who doesn't even know what he's discussing. I also don't see how oil samples from your machine belong to anyone but you.

If that fails, let that lawyer do his thing. Does yours have the updated intake assembly? Honda has essentially admitted they had an issue when they updated the intake. If yours doesn't...your lawyer will be liking it very much.

Here’s some pictures the dealer sent me. One is if the motor and the others is of the so called water in the intake tract that doesn’t exist.

I don’t know if it does or not. It wasn’t recalled. Did it come stock in the 2017?

And-I got all the way to the top, they had a meeting in California about this. And I thought maybe I had the winning lottery numbers at that time, everybody was so nice and we’re so sorry we should have it fixed in a month or less. Then bam call your insurance we’re not doing anything. Almost like I was a cheating wife and I got the boot.

If any way possible, pay the 2500 for the lawyer. Sounds like you have a bullet proof case and you'll get the lawyer fees back. I'm totally disgusted with Honda for treating people like this. Honda has people that visit forums like this one so I hope they read this.

Class action is the way to go. When the improved air intake first came out, I mentioned on here that Honda was basically admitting they had a screwed up design.

I have had the same problem with Honda on my p500.

It blew up on me on a limerock dirt road nowhere near water. I carried it to the dealer only for the rep to come in and deny my claim due to water ingestion.

I knew the buggy had never been under any water atleast to that extent. So I called bullsh**. I then negotiated my price for tear down. They tried to rip me off on that as well. Loaded all my parts and buggy up and went to a different dealer and explained my situation. They said that sounds fishy because as they were unloading my parts they didn't notice any sign of water anywhere. Buggy was still practically new inside and out. They called a different rep in.

The new rep now examines my parts. Don't know if it was the same guy or not. He then finds no evidence of water. Honda calls and says "I cleaned parts in route from one dealer to the other." That's when I lost my cool and explained to them that the two dealers are an hr. apart. I left from one an hr. before closing of the other. There was no way for me to clean parts in that time. They would be hearing from my lawyer.

They called back a few days later and said they were going to "goodwill" my parts. I would just have to pay the labor.

I ended up paying the labor. I then went back to the original dealer who said the water was there, spoke with the GM and got a awesome price on the 1000 I have now. They gave me a really good trade in on my 500 buggy because it was practically a brand new machine again.

I started to get on a while back and start a thread. There was nothing like this on here at the time. Didn't know if anyone would believe me, because it is a Honda.

We may just need to start a thread... "Problems with mother Honda"

I think you should title the thread "class action". For one, that's what it could possibly lead to. For another, somebody from Honda is more likely to read it. Corporate doesn't like that word. I admit I'm a fanboy but I believe someone when they say they have a problem. Being a fan doesn't mean I have blinders on.

I used to bleed red til they wouldnt stand behind their product. Everyone I would run into or see I would brag up my pioneer and when I would see rzr’s or other sxs I would just think in my Head didn’t that guy do his research plus this is a Honda come on it’s bullet proof, this company tests stuff they don’t let the consumer do the testing. Boy was I the dumba$$!!! Now I wonder what they were saying looking at me haha. I’m gonna start the thread “Class action lawsuit”

I'm going through the same sorta thing with my 2017 1000-3. I bought my 2017 in May of 2018. My dealer didn't do the clutch upgrade or even ask me if I wanted it. I was never sent a letter from Honda about the heat shield campaign or the clutch upgrade campaign. When I spoke to Honda, they told me I had to take it to a dealer to see if I had a clutch issue. 1,3,5 shift hard....I know what that is thxs to some of the posts here. Once its verified I pay a service fee to the dealer, I can call then and see if I can beg for an appeal on the clutch campaign that I supposedly didn't take advantage of. I asked If I can just buy the parts directly from Honda and get going on this. They say I have to buy the parts through a dealer...so I have to pay for the dealers markup. Never again will I buy a Honda. FYI, I live on a farm and this is a tool I need to take care of business. I live 1.5 hours from the nearest dealer. To think I cant even order parts and have them shipped so I can fix this myself....HAS ME STEAMING!

I'm definitely no expert on replacing the clutch but I did a quick search and found that.
