Guys, please chime in and let me know I'm not going crazy. I guess I never noticed it, but it seems lately i have to apply a good amount of throttle before she gets going. If my memory serves me right, it gets up to around 2k rpm or there about before I notice it gets going. Please tell me this is normal. Again I don't recall it doing that before. Thanks

Check this video, it shows that I am driving up the hill at about 1 mile an hour and under 2000 RPM.

OK so if that's the case, my tranny is slipping then? To clarify, once it gets going I can punch the gas and she will accelerate with no problems. It's just weird to me that from sitting at idle (1,100-1,200 rpm) and it takes around 2,000 rpm to get it moving....again unless it's something I've never noticed. Let's say worst case and I take it back to the dealer, is this an adjustment issue or a replacement deal?

I'm not sure. It may be interesting to show them them video then show them how yours works.

The clutch will slip until about 2,000 rpm. If you continue to slip it by driving under about 3 mph the clutch will heat up and it may be under 5 mph in high range. Most all don't need to drive under 3 mph. Compare it with another one.

Sounds like it's slipping to me. Shouldn't take 2k rpms form it to move.

Mine does not slip. Mine would stall before it slipped and revved up while in gear. When I hit the gas it immediately goes. In other words, the RPMs and movement are directly proportional. I do not have the manual trans type bump in RPMs where you rev up a little then engage as you drop/ease the clutch pedal. Even as my clutch is in the interstitial phase of actively engaging from 0-3mph, I am in motion. I've never experienced a spike prior to movement. It's either hooking up and turning rubber or stalling/lugging. However, I don't pretend to know how these computers + pressure regulate the engagement phase, so yours could be normal and mine abnormal. Just adding a little user feedback.

Best to compare it with another one. The rpm comes up fast.

I parked the boat under the shed today and used the P1000. It's up hill and gravel. The pioneer was spinning in 4-lock but eventually got a grip and pushed it up in there. It acted like it would stall the motor before the clutch would slip!

I just came in from pulling my 6x12 loaded 5' high with brush/limbs I'm clearing from a ditch line, and even when starting out with that load it would actually momentarily dip in RPMs until the clutch locked up. Definitely no slip or spike.

The Joey video will be hard on the clutch with the constant slipping. My buddies girlfriend held the throttle to hold his RZR from rolling back on a hill and smoked the belt right away. The belt drives without a wet will hour glass the belt quickly. Oh and she was using high range.

Most of the tow ratings are on flat or nearly flat ground. Slipping the wheels prevents belt of clutch damage. I use 2WD on my high geared Yamaha YXZ and slip the rear wheels a bit in extreme conditions to avoid clutch damage.

What video?

EDIT:

Never mind, you're talking about up the page a bit. I got it.

I wouldn't do that but just to show how the vehicle should work.

On dirt the P1000 will slip the tires a bit with a huge load. I'm careful but still mess up my gravel driveway. The 2017 models will be interesting but I expect it will take another year for the improvements we would like. Like lower gearing for one.

Ok guys, just wanted to keep everyone posted on what's going on with my issue. So I brought it into my dealer cause it was time for the first scheduled maintenance anyway. Explained the problem and concern that I'm having with the tranny/clutch time them. They test drove it and agreed there were definitely something wrong so I left it with them to further inspect what the issue may be. Fast forward almost 2 weeks later, I stopped by today to see what has taken place since I have not heard anything. Walked in.....there was another p1000 sitting besides mine which they're telling me that another customer had the same issues. I'm told that that this is now a possible "recall" issue. They think that it's not the clutch physically slipping and that it maybe a transmission control module that controls shifting points of the tranny. Not sure if this info. was told to them by Honda powersports USA or its something they think it may be but in any case I'm out of the use of my sxs and it is now a waiting game. I guess the only positive side to this whole thing is that whatever it is....it'll be covered. Imy gonna contact Honda myself and see what they have to say, I'll keep everyone posted.

i have immediate movement when i press the gas in any gear/range. i do have a slight rpm spike going into third gear both high and low range. took it to dealer for initial maintenance. they looked into it and said it was "normal" as "all the other p1k we have do the same, we compared all of them".
