I have no idea what mpg I get when I tow the 700-4 on a 6.5 x 12 utility trailer, but my 16 Ram 1500 pulls it quite well. I know its there, but it doesn't seem to struggle at all. I think the 8 speed tranny helps a lot keeping it in the right gear. I probably don't want to know what the mpg's are when I'm towing anyways. LOL
