Going to be towing my pioneer back home and wondering what the smallest trailer I could get away with. It’s a 8 hour trip.

Definitely recommend a 6X12 with at least a 3500lbs axle

He has an enclosed 7×16 like I have. I tried mine in a 6x10 utility trailer but axle in wrong spot. Not safe so didn't go far. It's very tight fit.

Rent a dual axle car trailer to get it home. Reasonable rent and insurance.
I have an 7.5' x 14' Dexter single 3500 pound axle, 15" tires with breaks, pulls great.
Also a 8.5' x 20' over height cargo. It's perfect for 2 sxs's. Pulls great.
Good luck.

Uhaul rents a 6x12 that it fits nicely in. Just make sure you get the one that has the full width tailgate. I believe the one with the ramp is too narrow.

I think it will fit in some 6x10 trailers but there is no room to adjust front to back for tongue weight and if it has a ramp on it … it might not close.

8 hours, damn. New machine or used?

And I agree, two axles would be a much nicer tow for that distance.

I have a 7x10 and it fits. In hind sight I would have gone with a 12-14 to have room to adjust tongue weight and make tying down easier.

If I'm riding, I'm trailering, so I went with a 14'er which gives me a lot of leeway for tongue weight adjustments, necessary for my varying fuel loads. fwiw: Talon, but similar lengths and weight distribution.

If you won't be using the trailer regularly, you already have your answer.

When I had a 10x6 tandem axle dump trailer I sometimes hauled my P1K5 in it. It barely fit, and I had to crawl under to tie it down.
I sold the dump trailer and bought a 7x14 single 5k axle tilt trailer with brakes. I like it much better.
