Last Friday I took delivery of an Awesome P1k5 Dlx. Love it. Now I found out about the
2018 PIONEER TAKEOVER - April 21 & 22 - Ride Royal Blue!
and made reservations to go.

So, I'm wondering what tools do you carry with you for all day trail riding, and how long does a tank of gas last? Guessing I'll need to carry and extra 5 or 10 gallons, but hoping to hear from experienced riders to save me from making a rookie mistake.

Thx all.

Try a quick forum search and you should find a couple threads on both!

100 miles on a tank is pretty easy. I think you could get 150 on a real good day. For me I just fill up when fuel is available and I don't carry spare fuel.

For tools I have CO2, tire plug kit, 1/4" and 3/8" drive ratchets and sockets, screw driver, pry bar, pliers and zip ties. 2 straps and a snatch block and 4 shackles for recovery.

My MPG is about half that.

My low fuel indicator comes on at about 75-80 miles of hard riding.

No way?? Everybody is getting about 100 miles from a tank and that’s riding hard.

That was my thought. I've filled up with 25-30 miles and taken 1.2-1.5 gallons many times and 40-50 miles on 3.3 gallons on a regular basis. I usually calculate fuel distance based on 10 mpg but typically see 15-20. I do think the fuel level bars are a terrible estimate of fuel on board.

Exactly.. I haven’t found that it’s accurate at all. Seems like I’ll be at half a tank in no time and then it slows down.

Mine varies! When I have the hammer down it seems to burn it very quickly, but when I’m sitting there idling it is much much easier:confused:

Hope this helps:cool:

From what I read and heard the terrain is rocky so a spare rim and tire with a cordless 1/2in impact wouldn't hurt. Aircompresser, slime, plan for the worst hope for the best.

No one can answer the mpg question accurately it all depends on terrain, speed, and general conditions. Driving around in low in and out of 4wd I sip gas, turning my 30's in sand at speed I drink fuel. It's all subjective.

Sorta.. but 100 miles is on the low side. 75 should be easy. I’m not arguing, just curious... I think the fuel gauge is misleading. But I also usually have some spare gas with me.

When I met up with PioneerAdam and Knuckle where we rode I went 56miles and was on empty in the forest. Sunday's trip was 23miles I didn't use 1/2 tank same tires and an extra person in the back my silverbacks weren't fighting sugar sand to turn.
